I will post my findings when I solve the mistery.

I would recommend trying Lorby Addon organiser and let it check for any layering issues or conflicts, with AON you can also easily see what is installed and change the priority of the layers. I tend to use Orbx Direct to do the initial layering, putting Orbx stuff below all the third party airports, and then use Lorby to do any tidying up and sort issues.

I have AON but only know the "Remove Duplicates" and the check for conflicts function. Both return no problems.

Like you, I let Central order and then do my own ordering. I have all my third party on top of ORBX.

How do you check layering issues?

Lorby AON should tell you if it detects issues with layering so if it isn't doing that you should be OK.

ok, thanks. Changing Autogen files didn't help. Actually I have no ideas what to do.

The quick and easy way is to let ORBX Central do it. BTW, I have read elsewhere of possible conflicts between OC and Lorby. Sorry, cannot find citation for this.

one more note…use Lorby’s to place ORBX Global Base below all addon and FTX entries, and right above the P3D default sceneries. I did this a couple of weeks ago and it seems to work fine for my setup

Already done that long before as written in this thread. I'm still not convinced it's layering.

Your trees look great here.  Is that all ORBX (OpenLC Europe and HD Trees)?

Yes Orbx Global base, OpenLC etc.

The trees are Terra Flora v2.

Fixed it!

I decided to use the delete generated files command. Important is, to have scenery.cfg saved, because that one is deleted. That cured it.

But I don't know which setting it changed. Only changing the autogen files or the terrain.cfg didn't change it. The layering is still the same now after adding the backup scenery.cfg and the add-on.xml addons. The only thing I hesitate is to reintroduce the AutogenConfigurationMerger.

After adding ORBX I get the towns back on the mountain ridge. So now testing removing one by one starting with EU LC.

This may seem only slightly nuts, but I think our hobby is like a Rubik Cube. We struggle to get it perfect, and when we succeed, we enjoy the flight until the next issue comes up. And, then we do it again. Frankly, I am guilty of being an inveterate tweaker, but for me, that is part of the pleasure, especially when I get it right. That elusive Sweet Spot is our holy grail.

Well, sometimes it's far from sweet. All day testing to remove this buildings which eventually came from ORBX Trees HD. My sim takes some time to start, so no flying for me yesterday.

I could keep the Terraflora v2 Trees.

But the nightmare isn't over. I have now brownish ground textures everywhere. Usually this could be fixed with layering but this time ...

I get nuts.

Now I'm sane again. After endless hours, reinstalling ORBX Global, verifying all Landclass and synchronizing and then, sorting it again by hand, since Central does always put it on top again after moving it with Central below other sceneries, I am through and it looks awesome again.
