Meaning that people like Bert P cannot apply the community fixes and improvements

That is completely stupid.  They deserve to be boycotted.

And all the other authors on the marketplace along with them?  As they are all encoded / protected in the same way aren't they?

I do agree with your sentiment, but that is not the way to do it.  I fly a lot of aircraft, from their absolutely excellent Mooney, through to this C182, which is supposed to be their worst in MSFS, but in actual fact isn't really that bad at all.  Have you tried it?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Not on MSFS, but I have flown many of their P3D and FSX era aircraft which absolutely needed third party input. I have spent enough money on Carenado products in the past.  No more.

Carenado:  'Yeah, so we're going to release our usual slapdashery to the market, but guess what?  This time, we're not allowing you to fix any of the sh*t we couldn't be arsed to fix ourselves.  Thanks for your cash (again)'.

Sure, I get it.  What I am saying is, it's the same for every other vendor selling through the marketplace, not just Carenado - they are all encrypted due to MS policy, not Carenado.

What is down to Carenado is that they decided to do their exclusive deal with MS through the marketplace.
If they sold direct from their website like they used to, we would at least have a chance, as you say.

Since Carenado is selling through the MS store, wouldn't it seem plausible that MS would insist/require bug fixes come at intervals to maintain the store contract?  Time will tell, but I think if Carenado survives the MS store, then I'm sure certain requirements must be met.  I don't see the Carenado products being study level, but I truly believe for the systems they employ in their products, they will have to meet their obligations in order to sell their craft.
