Carenado to address older bugs/issues

Two types. Those who go for pretty and those who go for system realism.

Yes, I realize this. I guess I am somewhere in the middle. A good looking cockpit with proper flight dynamics are the main points for me. When I said bad for some, I was referring to those who find the airplane at its worst and basically impossible to fly with no realism. You certainly can’t expect full system realism at the Carenado price point.

And yet... when there is a short list of bugs that are submitted to Carenado and not fixed.. it is not full system realism that is being requested, but rather attention to detail, that is frankly lacking..  Other vendors fix the reported bugs at the same price point, or even less.. 😉

Bert

Glad to hear they are going to improve support and quality. Their reputation in both areas is not the best. Much needed.

I am appreciative that Carenado are at least trying to update and upgrade ALL of their back catalogue at least, and I can't see why anyone would want to criticise it unless out of some kind of unfounded malice.

CareNOdo. Simple as that. And I've pretty much owned every plane they made for P3D and FSX - I then made the mistake to buy their PC12 for MSFS.

"Trying" to upgrade? I'm not holding my breath.

Just compare what you get with the Flight Factor addons, prized similarly.

Carenado offer no support, no interaction with users. They hide behind a lackluster Facebook page.

At least they can't do their cash grabs anymore - like charge extra for the SVS (which then only works inconsistently).

Flight Factor is showing that, with the HJet and the VisionJet you can have both.

My 2 cents. For the life of me, I just don’t understand why or how a product from Carenado can be so bad for some and gold for others. I personally have not had any issues with the PC-12. The textures are top notch inside and out and the plane follows flight plans with the integrated GTN530 to perfection. Would still love a beta range between flight idle and max reverse for taxing. Other than this it is a smooth beauty in the air that is very predictable with inputs to power and trim adjustments. No surprises on and off the autopilot and just love the overall feel of the model from departure to landing. For me, really an exceptional purchase.

I'm assuming they fixed these issues:

1. Battery dying, plane shuts off midair.
2. Dial in a VS 1000+ and crash detection kicks in
3. Signfiicant frame rate decay after about an hour off flight.

All three issues have been widely reported across all forums (here, Discord, MSFS forums, etc).

And let me say this again: for me, the biggest issue is that they offer absolutely no support whatsoever. The WT guys and the Flight Factor staff is pretty much active 24/7 on Discord, answering questions, etc.

Think you mean Flight FX (FFX), rather than Flight Factor. Am fairly sure those A320 devs in XP haven't made anything for MSFS yet.

Lack of bug fixes notwithstanding, that is the biggest complaint (and a rather unreasonable one at that) people have against Carenado.

Even with the multiple legitimate issues listed in this thread, I would be much more likely to pick-up a Carenado add-on over a Captain Sim or VirtualCol one.

I've been an avid "simmer" since around 2010 from the FSX era, through the P3D v2-v4 then onto MSFS. Also dabbled in XP11.

I've seen Carenado consistently release subpar (at their price point) addon aircraft for every sim platform they've developed for, the sheer rate that they pump out addons speak volumes. Their 3D modelling and texture work is top notch, I'll give them that. Buying a Carenado addon always been a lottery, some are not too bad whereas others release with frankly mind boggling bugs that make one question if they test addons at all before pushing them out the door. Compound this with their legendary lack of customer communication, buyers have always been left wondering if Carenado will ever release fixes for their products. I remember when it was largely left to Bert Pieke to release mods in his spare time to fix show stopping bugs in Carenado planes for FSX and P3D.

During the FSX/P3D era flight simming was far more niche than it is now, primarily thanks to the popularity of MSFS. With new developers showing what is possible at the $20-$30 price point (SWS Kodiak, FlightFX Hjet and Vision Jet etc) it leaves Carenado looking like a third-class developer, they have nowhere to hide now.

I'm not a flight sim snob in the slightest, your post seemed to insinuate that was my agenda - I'm simply tired to seeing simmers parted from their cash for sub-par products (however visually striking) and left wondering by Carenados radio silence if fixes and updates will ever come.

Perhaps in this new MSFS era they'll up their game as the competition for flight simmers hard earned cash witn be much stiffer than in FSX times....but I'm not holding my breath.

Now that is a fair comment.  Sorry if you thought I was implying you were a ''sim-snob'.  My point was a lot of people continually knock this company trying to display some form of superior attitude, Such as "I only fly Fenix or JustFlight  - Carenado are trash" .

Whereas we all know what Carenado are like. And you can't compare them to others such as A2A, especially at the price point.  But now, if they are trying to improve, then that is at least something.  As you say, their internal and exterior modelling is second to none, but they do need more effort on the avionics side of things without a doubt.  Saying that, I mainly fly VFR, so I have never had an absolute show-stopper in any of their MSFS aircraft.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for my steam gauge porter I paid for last year from Blackbird (Milviz), the SWS Kodiak is only just receiving an update to stop it landing like a crate as it has done for months, and I already mentioned the AH Chipmunk.  I won't even bring Aerosoft and their Twin Otter in to it.    So Carenado aren't the only ones.

As others have pointed out though, the new kids on the block are doing really well in terms of quality, regular updates, and fixes, such as FlightFX and GotFriends.
This is what we need.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Carenado is releasing the Archer II soon, and I would be very tempted to dip my toe in the water again.  Their Mooney was outstanding and if the Archer is anything close to that I will still buy.  Good to hear that they are cleaning things up, let’s hope the trend continues.

Freely available from their forum if you bought it from Milviz. I've removed the G1000 version now, the steam gauge version is so much better I think.

Yes, thanks.  I heard it was on the forum about a month ago.  I didn't register for the forum as I thought they would put it out on general release after a few days - they haven't for some reason. Like you, I will mainly fly the steam gauge one.

It's worth joining for this. This is one of those Milviz SP beta specials which means it probably won't be finished and released for ages but it's certainly good enough to get now.
