Finally new pc for Christmas!! What do you think??

Featured Replies

Hi all guys, I've been reading you for months now, and thanks to you I finally got to buy the new pc, I hope in the best possible way for msfs at the moment. In April 2022 my pc broke on which I flew thousands of hours in fsx.

Since then I stalled until yesterday, and finally decided to buy the new pc with I think the best current components for msfs. It stands to reason that you can always wait a few months for new hardware to come out, but at that point you don't buy anymore! I stalled for the release of the rtx cards and the new Intel ones, and the wait was long. So I decided and bought the following:

Cpu: i9 13900kf

GPU: rtx 4090 MSI suprim x

Mb: Z790 mag MSI tomahaw d5

Storage: 2x 1tb Samsung 980 Pro

Ram: 2x16 Kingston fury Ddr5 6000

Cooler: MSI mag cooler Liquid 360mm

Power: coolermaster mwe gold 1050w v2

Case: coolermaster haf 500

TV Samsung qled q70

What do you think? I'm going to pick up the pc next week, so after years I got myself a nice Christmas present.

What do you think, will it be easy to install the new msfs plus the configuration of the Boeing trustmaster yoke and its calibration? Plus Nvidia interface settings and simulator settings. Do you say that it is more difficult to write than to do in practice?

I hope I can get some advice from you and maybe an opinion on what I'm doing!

Good day!

Sorry wrong section! Can someone please put this in the correct section? A thousand thanks

This is a "maxxed" build.

I just built a new machine as well but with tight budget restrictions andso far MSFS has been outstandingly smooth and visually stunning; and I haven't turned too much down. Of course I'm still on a 1080p monitor so I have no idea how it will all go on a 1440.

Don't tweak MSFS too much and you'll be happy. It isn't P3D. As far as setting things up goes, well, that can be a bit confusing until you understand how things work in the new sim.

Enjoy your new system!

In the middle of my build too right now, not too dissimilar to yours.  I9-12900K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z690, 32 GB DDR 4 Corsair Vengeance CAS16 3600 memory, Corsair Capellex 360 AIO cooler for the CPU, Samsung 980 pros (1 for p3d, 1 for MSFS), Samsung 980 EVO Plus for OS, Corsair 5000D case, and contemplating either the MSI Suprim X watercooled RTX4090, or the Gigabyte Auros RTX4090 Extreme Waterforce.  Whichever I can find in stock at MSRP.

Just waiting on the Video card and then it'll be up and running.

Upgrading from an 8700k system with two MSI Duke 1080TI's.  Has been very reliable system, but want to move to 4K on my 3-Projector system and just not up for it.

I'm accumulating parts for a new system too. I'm curious if there's a real performance advantage with separate M.2 SSDs like you're doing... or if there's another reason for multiple drives?

I finally hope to be able to fly with everything set to the maximum, and not having to have problems with jerks or slowdowns during take-off and landing, all in 4k. Thank you for your consideration!

Thank you for your consideration! For example with your pc, are you able to fly with all settings at maximum and do you fly with a good fps even in complex scenarios?

I get it, I think with both 4090 you will have the top! I had to take the MSI 4090 suprim x because it was the only one he had unfortunately available, otherwise I would have preferred to take another 4090 and save 100 euros. Here in Italy the 4090 suprim x cost me around 2100, while at your place? (what a country)

Yes, good question! I've read several posts about it, but honestly I haven't come to a certain conclusion. Some say it's better to have everything separate, so the operating system on one ssd, msfs on another ssd and everything else on another hdd or ssd. Then there are those who say that the operating system and msfs must be on the same ssd and everything else on another one. Honestly, it's not clear to me too whether SO and msfs must or should not be on the same ssd, maybe someone more expert can tell us something more ... have a good start to Saturday everyone!

Top of the line for 2022, for sure!

Mid-range system by the end of 2023.

By 2025 people will be asking why you still use such an old and outdated computer.

It's the way of electronics.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Yes, you're right, the electronic way is unfortunately like this! You buy a top Level and after 6 months it's gone... But for sure for at least 3 years and maybe more, I'll be able to run msfs at ultra settings in 4k with at least 60 fps! This to me is the most important thing!

Imagine that until the beginning of 2022 I was flying with fsx and with CPU i7 950 and Nvidia 1070 at medium settings but at 1080 and I was able to stay at 25fps or more but never below, but we're talking about a PC about 10 years old!

Considering how much I'm paying for this pc, 4100 euros, I hope it will give me great satisfaction for the years to come!!!

To answer questions, I'm using separate drives for P3D and MSFS mainly to manage them accordingly.  I don't think there is necessarily any advantage doing it one way or another, more so if I bunker something up, I can just wipe the drive and start fresh.

I'm sure there is some advantage to using M.2  vs. a SATA drive, but other than that it's personal preference.

If you’re anything like me it’ll take some screwing with instead of just plug and go. I got a 4090 and 5800x3d and still had to play with settings and fix a few things to keep it from stuttering. Still had to lower the terrain LOD a bit but almost everything else is maxed. It looks real nice now that I got it running to a decent level.

Ha!  Imagine that until mid-2020 I was flying FSX with a Core-2-Quad q9650 (overclocked) and an Nvidia 560Ti at medium settings.  I could typically hold 25 fps at 720 resolution, but fps did drop to high-teens in really dense scenery with lots of AI aircraft.  That computer was about 10 years old when I retired it.  Talk about outdated, especially with Windows XP!
