I have just bought 4070 gpu and I faced this problem. Vsync on and frame capped 60 in NCP with FG. My monitor doesn't have GSYNC.

It’s my understanding that frame generation does not work well without a Gsync monitor. I personally couldn’t get good results, but I haven’t tried since December. Lots of tearing, artifacts and stutters.  Once I got it set up on my widescreen Gsync monitor I was impressed. Again, don’t know if some work arounds since then have been found.

With my older non gsync monitor, in the MSFS Nvidia profile, I lock frames at 60 and force on Vsync and it's perfect. Plus my hardware is running cool and easy.

Hi All

New to this thread... I have just upgraded to new 7900X3D + GTX 4080 , I am running the first generation LG Utrawide 3440 x 1440 which has FreeSync but no Gysnc... Is there any hope for the possibilty of using frame generation as like Travel Runner above I can get 60 FPS as its a 60Hz Monitor but it has terrible tearing so I have had to revert back to DX11 and Half monitor refresh rate to 30 FPS which is good but I probably would not have bought the 4 series if I had known you need a Gysnc Monitor as the frame generation is why I went for it. I should have done better research before buying.

If anyone has any tips please let me know

Vsync on in the Nvidia Control Panel does not seem to work.

Many Thanks

Hamish

You don't need a GSYNC monitor. I am having the smoothest sim ever without one. Monitor set to 60Hz, NVCP: Vsync ON, ingame VSYNC: OFF.

Thats interesting as I have tried that but cant get it to behave without tearing... My monitor is set to 6o HZ and I have 100 Refresh rate in Sim.

So you are running DX12 FrameGeneration, Vysync off in MSFS and then with Nvidia Control Panel with Vsync On?

Are you also using TAA?

Many Thanks

H.

Hi.
I am in the same situation when i active Frame Generation my FPS drops to 30 or less and when i look around everything is stutter but when is use DLSS with Directx 11 everythin is smooth at 60 FPS. I will share a video later.

Hardware:

11900K at 5.3 Ghz.

RTX 4070 TI

1080P upscaled to 4K 60 Hz.

SSD.

Regards.

DLSS+FG+DX12:

I tried the following but the result is the same with DLSS+FG+DX12 :

Update bios.

Update nvidia drivers.

I made a clean installation of nvidia drivers.

Update Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Restart to default settings on MSFS 2020 and Nvidia control panel.

Delete Rolling Cache.

I think I just need to try on a native 4K monitor and another game with DLSS+FG+DX12.

 Any other suggestion is welcome.

Regards.

That looks really weird, like it's being limited by vsync or something.

Why are you upscaling to 4K and running DLSS? Why not run TAA at your native resolution? Lots of folks are using DX12 + TAA + FG (+ GSYNC if you have it).

Hi

Because for some reason if i run msfs 2020 with DLSS or TAA at 1080P my performance is not smooth. The best set up that i found regarding quality and performance was with DLSS+DX11.

Regards.

Ugh... gotta love how this thing works completely different from person to person. Even on the same exact hardware sometimes. 💩
