February 6, 20233 yr EFIS's post made me think I have seen that before. Snow showers over Iceland yesterday.
February 6, 20233 yr Well for some I can only say it must be a VR thing. I was in Northern Latitudes yesterday, no VR, the weather was awful, SW winds at 50-60 knots snow showers etc. The cloud in the picture is a bit lenticular which is what you would expect with the winds and the cloud colour, shape and balance was pretty good from my perspective!
February 6, 20233 yr Off topic a little, night skies, not sure hard to see cloud at night at the best of times. The star constellations are good in XP and where they should be. Could see the Southern Cross in the right area and elevation quite nicely, so they have a lot right it seems.

I did earlier, but obviously you can't cope with critical posts of a disappointed user. I was very optimistic looking forward to an all new x-plane 12 experience but every time I start after a new update hoping I can finally enjoy x-plane it is back to the other simulator. I wish I could "ever post something positive." but the above experience is sheer horror, especially in VR. there is no way I can imagine buying any addons for this x-periment 12 unless clouds get finally solved. And yes I can also produce nice cloud screenshots and have already posted some very convincing sunset environments that looked better than anything I have seen in MSFS, but unfortunately that didn't make the horror clouds disappear. Others think so, too. 4 hours ago, turbomax said: today while I was flying in VR incl. the latest version 12.0.3.0 - these are supposed to be clouds, not mountains as I was flying over pure water. is this approved by the FAA ? No information about your settings. No information about the weather. You may as well post a black image, and it would be about as much help as the screenshots you posted. 4 hours ago, turbomax said: "Credit goes to turbomax, who took the screenshots". I see what you did there. Very well played. Here's a little tip, for future reference. When posting screenshots you took, you don't need to take credit for them. I know you might want to feel important by announcing it to all of us, but I assure you, it's not necessary. I added the credit because, simply, I did not take the screenshots. It's the courteous thing to do. Plus I wanted to link people to the source, so people like yourself don't assume I took cherry picked screenshots...like you do...often. It's obvious you don't like X-Plane. And you're doing exactly what other people do when someone makes a point that you keep posting critical and negative comments. 3 hours ago, turbomax said: but obviously you can't cope with critical posts of a disappointed user. You fall back on the "but obviously you can't cope with critical posts of a disappointed user." Yes. We can. But it gets very boring when a select few people keep posting the same thing. 3 hours ago, turbomax said: I was very optimistic looking forward to an all new x-plane 12 experience but every time I start after a new update hoping I can finally enjoy x-plane it is back to the other simulator. and the other standard comment, that comes in many forms..."I want X-Plane to succeed...". In your case, it's "I was very optimistic looking forward to an all new x-plane 12 experience". It's nothing most of us haven't seen before. But rest assured, you've learnt a very valuable and important lesson in life...if you haven't already. We don't always get what we want. Sometimes we spend our money on something, and are disappointed in what we purchased. Unless you're 12 years old, and saved up money from washing cars, it's a safe bet this isn't the first time you've spent money on something and didn't like it. Sometimes....life isn't fair. For that, I have something to tell you. Next time, download the free demo. If you were foolish enough to throw money at Laminar, for a new product, without trying the FREE demo first, well, that's on you, isn't it? Laminar were even offering refunds for the first few weeks. So, a free demo, and refunds for those people who somehow missed there was a free demo. Even though it's the first thing you see on the X-Plane homepage. But if it makes you feel any better, you keep posting your childish "x-perimental 12" label. Because no one takes you seriously anyway, and it's what we've all come to expect of you. You can keep posting any cherry picked screenshot you want that you set up to show X-Plane at its worst. 3 hours ago, turbomax said: I wish I could "ever post something positive." Do you think the top post is showing something positive. Others seem to think so. 3 hours ago, turbomax said: I was very optimistic looking forward to an all new x-plane 12 experience but every time I start after a new update hoping I can finally enjoy x-plane it is back to the other simulator. By all means, no one is stopping from going back to the other simulator. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I speak for many of us when we say we wished you did go back to the other simulator, so we can discuss X-Plane. And before you go around announcing the typical, "b-b-but I'm discussing problems with X-Plane!", I'll ask you if you've filed a bug report. If not, we've noted your comments. You don't have to repeat them. And please file a bug report. Again, if X-Plane isn't for you, then it's not for you. I'm really sorry it didn't meet your expectations. Even though it's Laminars biggest release. And if you feel the need to go back to the other flight sim, then I will personally hold the virtual door open for you, and bid you farewell. I sincerely hope the other simulator offers what you are looking for. Even if it has 5 pages of things people want, in a thread that was started 24 hours ago, bugs and a wishlist, that are far too numerous to count, and known issues, after 9 years of development (7 years pre-release and over 2 years post release) by a team of close to 300, who are on a 10 year plan, backed by a $2 trillion company and 10 million customers...err...sorry...downloads. My personal advice? If you don't like something, just stop using it. It's advice I was given when I was still in primary school. And it's advice I give my child. Edited February 7, 20233 yr by GoranM
February 7, 20233 yr I posted this wondering if other users are experiencing the same or if it is a setting that I might have wrong, instead all you have to offer is life philosophy and so forth. perhaps my experience helps other prospective buyers to not judge x-periment 12 by selected pretty cloud screenshots alone but to get the big picture. As Henry Ford used to say: you can have it any color you like, as long as it's black. Please, enlighten us. Instead you post your usual "x-periment 12", as if that's giving you some kind of credibility, or some kind of opinion that you seem to think is valid, and other comments like 5 hours ago, turbomax said: is this approved by the FAA ? 29 minutes ago, turbomax said: instead all you have to offer is life philosophy and so forth. It's obvious you need it. Like another person said, he will fall off his chair if he sees you post something positive. Safe to say the feeling is shared among many. If you need help, why don't you ask? I've taken time out to personally help you in DM's in the past. Posting images of something, with no context, and calling X-Plane 12 "x-periment 12" will hardly get anyone rushing to you with offers of assistance. I've had teenagers give me more information when asking for help. However, seeing as you maybe take offense to my "life lesson", here's some facts. X-Plane 12 isn't going anywhere. If you don't like it, don't use it. If you do like it, but it has flaws, submit a bug report. Asking for help on avsim will yield close to zero results. If you want to use MSFS, use it. No need to announce it. I assure you, no one here cares, one way or the other. Here's a pro-tip. To start with, call it X-Plane 12, and you might get people who know about your problem, to help you. Otherwise, people will just consider you something unflattering. Edited February 7, 20233 yr by GoranM

XP 12 has bugs that need fixing. Top of my list is the 'cloud visibility order' bug, where distant clouds are seen through nearer clouds. This bug produces unrealistic skyscapes and strange effects near the horizon. I reported this bug through the official bug reporting procedure in the first few weeks of the early release. This bug is still there, so by your standards I should be posting some VERY unflattering remarks towards LR and those people close to LR that are in this forum. The thing is, XP12 is so good in many other ways, I find myself mostly posting positive posts and screenshots. Any negativity from me is balanced with positive remarks, not only because that is what any decent person would do, but because LR and those close to them deserve some praise for what is good. I found this from yourself to be interesting ... 2 hours ago, turbomax said: perhaps my experience helps other prospective buyers to not judge x-periment 12 by selected pretty cloud screenshots alone but to get the big picture The 'big picture' to me is showing XP12 as a fantastic simulator with some bugs to be sorted. Your 'big picture' is to portray XP12 as a failure, with few positive attributes. The fact you post screenshots here suggest you do like XP12, so maybe you could post some positive thoughts too?
