FENIX and icing situations

Featured Replies

Was flying yesterday CYYZ-KORD (horrible weather at KORD) and caught icing at FL050 with speeds' data totally FUBAR. So, I crashed, despite WAI and EAI turned on.

Question - is it something I did wrong OR icing should be unchecked in MSFS menu?

TIA, Dmitriy.

You should turn icing off in the sim with Fenix.  It causes issues

Thanks. So...then I will lose the visual icing effect as well, right?

You can only set icing to "visual" in MSFS, not "off". Not sure how this transcends to the Fenix though, maybe their visual icing is depending on actual MSFS icing. Anyway you have no choice, icing on will literally crash your aircraft.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I think even visual causes a problem in the Fenix, just turn it off.

I meant it's literally not possible to choose any other setting than "visual" in MSFS. There's no "off" state, only full icing effects or "visual only" (can't remember the exact name of the setting, but it's in the assistance menu)

So the question is...do we really HAVE to set Icing to OFF or leave it Visual Only is ok?
