It’s performance ok in my PC?

Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

I’m testing the XP12 demo and thinking about buying it. I have MSFS with the PMDG 738 and Fenix A320, but I was a heavy XP11 user and I’m curious about 12.

I have this PC:

AMD 5800X with 32Gb 3600 RAM, AMD RX6800XT 16Gb, 1GB SSD with W11 and dedicated 256Gb SSD for XP. UWQHD monitor.
All drivers and W11 up to date. XP12 demo 12.04r3.

These are the settings I have now in XP12. With these settings, with Zibo at KPDX sitting at runway, I get about 32FPS in VC. I notice some microstutters here and there, not brutal but still noticeable. Do you think it’s normal? Or I should get more performance?

I'd say that's normal.  XP12 is pretty tough on systems imo.  I've got a 12700K (at 4.4GHz) , 32GB 5600mhz ram, and a 4080 and I run at 1440p res...  In boring rural areas I get about 40-50 fps in the default Citation X.  I run almost identical settings to you.  I see you're at 4k so that makes sense to me since I'm only at 1440.

When I run VR (4k per eye / HP Reverb G2) yeah it's definitely rougher - approx 25-30 fps in the Citation X.  I'd say my 4080 beats your 6800XT though by a bit.

Having almost the same system (5800X, 32 GB, 6900XT), but using Linux, I get 36 FPS at 1440p with FOV 80, all three tickboxes on and all sliders except AO ("High") and AA ("2 x MSAA") right.

Thanks you guys. Seems that Linux performs a bit better?

I have the same CPU at 4.6GHz and a 3090. I run 4K.

Really disappointing performance compared with XP11 on my older hardware (7700K 4.3GHz and 1080GTX)

Hope they get on top of it, as it is unusable for me.

Feel probably could be a tad more, although the ZIBO is heavy on frames

I'm running Win 10, 10600K, 32 GB, RX 6700 XT, UWQHD getting more than you, 2x MSAA everything else max / on and think I'm doing better than what you're showing. Noticed you had Zink already enabled.

A bit maybe. Could also be the non-public, very experimental optimized build of Zibo's 737 that I'm using.

Anyway, do you guys notice the small microstutters?

Yes.
I have a 7950X and 4090, and sometimes I drop down to 25fps on the ground at my local airport of EGNT.

Yes, sometimes I do.

It's very subtle, particularly noticeable when using faster aircraft and rapidly changing attitude, or during tight turns, so while most of the time I don't notice it because I use mainly the Zibo and the Toliss and am busy with my airline pilot duties, when I pick one of those extraordinary WW2 fighters like the P47 by @domhenry then I can notice very slight stutters.

I have my FPS limited to 32 max in NCP and I enable VSync in XP12.

Same here. 9800k and a 1080ti

I'm yet to make a successful flight with it months in

Using the tolis in the cruise its fine but once you get to around 10nm of the destination airport, it just tanks on finals with nearly every single addon airport down to say around 15fps in the day time and at night time about 10.

So the aircraft will stutter and crawl down the ils glitching out and then once you try to taxi in the frames suddenly go back up again.

No issues with xp11, ms2020 or P3D but xp12 is unusable for me.

I'm sick to death of developers rushing out unfinished products (on all the platforms) , and then relying on the same bunch of people to hype and defend them.

What FPS figures are you getting in MSFS?

Zink is a major improvement for x-plane, at least because it enables AMD users to run it on Linux without issues, and Linux performance is much better.

On Windows I haven't noticed that big of an improvement, but that's maybe due to the drivers and, well, Windows.

Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12

I think the performance I'm getting is kind of odd where I get strange dips at times down to low twenties. I've been messing around with settings and the Nvidia settings but no silver bullet yet. One oddity is sometimes dipping to low 20s while flying at 40k feet over just about no scenery what so ever.
