I presume you have a MB that supports DDR5?

DDR5 at XMP speeds can be problematic. Even when listed on the verified list for the motherboard.

My New Ram at 7200 was not stable at that speed. Had to downgrade it to 6600.

Then I decided to add two more sticks for 64Gb of ram. and the fasted I can get may ram to run stable is 6200. Not the 7200 I paid for.

There have  been a few new BIOS firmware updates that was supposed to improve the Ram, but so far, 6200 is the fastest I can run stable with 4 sticks.

Just FYI

Thats a bummer. My 6400 ran in XMP in my ASUS Z790 MB without a hitch. Of course, that's not 7200 so I guess YMMV.

One small suggestion...that Samsung 850 EVO 1TB (Storage/Downloads) - make it a 2TB. If you don't do it now you'll be doing it later, and with the $$$$ you've already spent it will be an insignificant increase in cost to go 2 TB now.

One tip--in the 0813 or later BIOS version for the Z790 Maximus Hero, in Extreme Tweaker -> AI Overclock Tuner, set "XMP Tweaked", and you may want to bump DRAM VDD Voltage up .01-.02v from stock.  That made a huge difference getting my 2x16GB 7800MHz GSkill DIMMs working.

That said, running 4 unmatched DIMMs is potentially problematic even at the memory manufacturer's XMP settings.

Does not appear to have a 12vhpwr connector/cable for your GPU. While not a requirement, it's certainly convenient and designed to better meet the current demands of the 4090.

ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360

Is a great cooler, but just a heads-up... on my ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E MB, the VRM heat sink at the top interfered with the mounting bracket of the cooling block and I had to grind off a bit of material from the bracket to install it. Not a big deal, and may not even be a problem for the Hero, but just something to watch for.

I've been running the 4090 on this PS for a few months now with the connetors it came with. Not worth the price for convience as I already spent a lot.

I'm envious!!!!! That will be a crack rig and should make MSFS sing. Thanks for taking the time to post this thread as I'm considering an upgrade and you have spec'd the identical parts I have been considering. PLS let us (me) know how this works out for you, including any build complications - thanks in advance.

I get it. No worries. I thought it was in you shopping cart rather than your PC case. 👍
