v1.1 now also includes V4 support! 

Everybody should decide for themselves, however please support developers that continue to embrace P3D releases/developments, otherwise more developers might abandon us for greener pastures...

I got it yesterday from FSDG directly and it is already v1.1. Made some screenshots, though the product is well presented on the FSDG page I think. Misty weather unfortunately 😉

Looks like a real nice scenery. Is this one of those lite sceneries they make with just the airport or is it a full scenery with the surrounding area? I am waiting for this scenery to be posted on Simmarket before I buy it because there is a scenery on sale there that I also want to buy. (hopefully it gets added to Simmarket  soon, the sale is over in 4 days)

I did not see the surroundings so far, cause I'm actually fixing the afcad, which is low quality this time. It is rather imprecise and somehow the AI gets stuck at the runway. I also found a taxi-path not connected. 

Why wait for the order? The work is not buying but installing. So it's always better to get one after the other. Do you intend flying from Accra to the other?

The other scenery is Taxi2Gate Paris, so that would be a good starting airport. Plus that is the only Taxi2Gate scenery that I don't have yet.

I'm still on the old version and should update but I'm afraid of the work. I fly actually from Accra to Duala. That's far enough for me and I see finally the ORBX Africa scenery I got long time ago.

Accra is only the airport scenery as far as I could see. The scenery is with a sat-image background bordered by roads, so it fits nicely though it has some different color to ORBX Africa.

The afcad seems to work, but needs some more AI testing before I can upload it. It's for the no statics version only.

Maybe I'm too picky but I'm not impressed by the quality of those screens. To me, looks like more a FSX scenery rather than a P3D scenery.

But anyway, the MSFS version also really looks like a P3D scenery so it might be normal after all. Joking aside, FSDG is a far cry compared to the best developpers, the gap is increasing.

Great to see more Africa projects!

FWIW I believe this scenery was developed independently before FSDG brought it under their wing, which may be the reason for quality differences compared to previous releases. The developer documented the project pretty well over on FSDeveloper, here:https://fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/kotoka-international-airport-accra-dgaa-wip.450829/ .

This is a nice surprise for me, personally. Considering how long ago the MSFS version was released, I was getting skeptical about this one. Will definitely be purchasing it once it hits shops available to non-EU folks.

I bought this airport this afternoon and found the same problem. Ai taxi to 19 but just sit there before being deleted. I found a load of hold short points too far from the runways. Fixed those but the three entry points to 19 seem to confuse the Ai and they line up but never takeoff.

If you’ve fixed it any chance of a copy please? It’s a nice airport I shall use for Concorde flights to the Caribbean and Cape Town.

Hey Dan- Above you mention a taxi-path not connected. I had a problem with an airport runway using an ATC program. I contacted the dev multiple times regarding this and got the runaround. One of the things I was told to do was to check that taxi paths were connected with no directions on how to do so. Have you done this and if so, how did you do it?

Hi Dan, thanks for that. I had some free time this morning and it was bugging me why Ai weren’t taking off on 21. The multiple entry paths plus a displaced threshold were probably responsible.

I hate things defeating me so removed two of those paths. Still the problem persisted. Using Ai Companion I could see the status wasn’t changing to TakeOff1 as the Ai entered the runway. I put that down to a misplaced Hold Short point. I edged it closer to 21 and tried again. Success!

I find it odd that developers put great effort into scenery design but don’t test if Ai takeoff.

I’ll try yours so I can compare and see how you resolved it.

On a related topic I planned a flight to Lagos but there were only 5 gates for a huge airport. I searched for a replacement AFCAD but the only one was for v4 and ADE reported multiple issues.

I decided to create my own using your guidance notes. Opened the default and then came the problem of where to get airport layout charts from. A internet search proved fruitless. Then I had a brainwave. Google Earth! If you zoom in close enough you can make out the gate numbers on the tarmac. So I used that to add another 15 positions at Lagos. It was a success and now have plenty of Ai. GE reported the date of the image as 1985 but I’ll take that with a pinch of salt.

I then looked at Manchester which is undergoing a big revamp especially to T2. GE shows the revised layout but frustratingly there’s no way to edit my UK2000 EGCC to add extra gates plus the buildings. If only Gary would go back to P3D. 😟

There are still developers for P3D out there. I wish they’d look at Manchester.
