7950x3d and 4090 performance

Featured Replies

hello all,

I have just finished my build and want to share some screenshots about performance at heavy airports, because many of you are wondering how this couple will perform with msfs 2020.

My settings is mainly ultra, except buildings and trees on high, just static aircrafts, dx12, tlod and object lod 200, 4k resolution, TAA, pg off, live weather, rendering at 100 and frame generation is off.

Nice! Which 737 is that? Could you do one or two more with default airports (I can't compare apples to apples since I don't own any of those add-ons. )

Please show performance while rolling down the runway for takeoff. I find as soon as my aircraft starts moving there is a drop in fps, or rather an increase cpu and gpu demand (I lock at 33 fps and only with a bunch of live traffic do I see fps drop below 33, but the cpu and gpu start working harder while moving).

I repeated one of your tests as closely as possible (737-700 and default deluxe KEWR) and was doing 65 FPS. So your 7950X3D is giving a 15% performance uplift over my 13900k. Nice!

my Ryzen 7800X3D, similar performer in MSFS: here my VR session into KMVY, Beech Baron, bad weather, overcast, rain

41 watts CPU power

62 degrees celsius CPU, only briefly 80 degrees during initial loading of MSFS

"nice!"

An excellent question mikeymike. After reading all these posts and watching reviews on YouTube, I am still not sure if the 7950x3d will offer any advantage over the 7800x3d.

Looking forward to peoples comments.

not for MSFS, perhaps for content creators but that's not what we are discussing here. plus it but might introduce additional hassle with its special core parking issues which the 7800x3D doesn't have nor need.

Interesting so for solely using msfs it makes more sense to use a 7800x3d?

sometimes I obs studio to live feed on Facebook.

will this be an issue ?

i am currently using a 9900k and I am new to intel.

Thanks for the help

mike

With my 7950x3d I don’t have any problem with parking cores. But some people have problems, maybe outdated drivers or bios issues. If you will have another tasks with computer you can choose 7950x3d, but only for msfs you can choose 7800x3d. It seems that they have nearly same performance with msfs 2020.

they do, because 8 of the 7950x3D's 16 cores are parked during MSFS, so no benefit for MSFS users.

"I don’t have any problem with parking cores."

you may not notice it, but for MSFS it is just unnecessary overhead and could introduce problems caused by the scheduler:

Core Parking Fail

"When I installed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in my CPU test system, which had the 7950X3D installed previously, the performance numbers didn't look right. Cinebench and other non-gaming benchmarks showed the expected performance, only games were slow."

Thank you for all the input provided. That was an excellent video on core parking.
