Flying Iron BF109G

Recommended Posts

I may fly her… with an Israeli Air Force livery of the war of Independence in 48. The IAF Czech Avia S-199 were 109G.

When I visited the Hatzerim AFB IAF museum, there was a nice display of a Mustang, Spitfire and Messer side by side.

I've got their superb Spitfire, Lightning and Hellcat, but I'm not sure the Me-109 appeals to me that much. On the other hand, I might buy it just to support the developers. Flying Iron are a godsend to MSFS.

I don't care for the term "InstaBuy" but it definitely applies to this one for us old CFS and IL2 dogfighters!   Now hold fast for the discussion on the many variants (is it a G-6 early or late, or maybe just the kinda slightly fashionably late version?).  I'll get in early and say an F-4 version woulda been appreciated but this will do fine as long as it's got that distinctive DB605 sound.

Beware of the limitations imposed by MFS's flight dynamics.

I to plan to get this one, and I own their Spitfire, and appreciate the various updates it already got.

They're trying to do their best, but when you compare it to real world data and pilot reports, and compare the "feel of flight" of the Spitfire with that of similar offers for DCS World anfd IL2 Great Battles, well..., you have to feel the difference.

I can still take it just for the pleasure of flying it in such a wonderful environment like that of MFS, but I will not consider MFS's best use to be the reproduction of the idiosyncrasies of such aircraft...

Plus the IAF has some of the coolest camo jobs 🙂

so far, nothing compares to A2A Sims warbirds or DCS World, but yeah, i'm going to continue supporting FIS in MSFS.

Gott im Himmel, it's out now -

https://flyingironsimulations.com/collections/microsoft-flight-simulator/products/bf-109g-6-for-microsoft-flight-simulator

FEATURES

  • Lovingly detailed, AAA quality 3D Artwork with 10 liveries included.
  • Immersive Wwise Soundscape; including our most detailed engine sound capture yet – hear the unique scream of the Daimler-Benz DB 605A from all angles with not one, but FOUR unique engine captures (3 external + cockpit). Buzz the tower with the brilliant FlyingIron Flyby sound technology.
  • Incredibly authentic Flight Modelling – we have been collaborating for almost a year with 109 pilots, DB 605A experts & technicians to develop a truly realistic model of the airframe & engine flight dynamics. The flight & engine models have been exhaustively tested by a team of experts to validate flight performance & behaviours. The flight model includes multiple custom-coded additions to extend realism beyond what’s possible in the base simulator.
  • Extensive, faithful recreation of the Bf 109’s multiple systems – powered by our custom codebase to ensure each aspect of system simulation is faithfully recreated & futureproof against Sim updates. This includes extensive modelling of fuel & hydraulic systems, emergency systems and much more. Even the J30BZ Chronograph is simulated!
  • Detailed modelling of the DB 605A-1 V-12 engine – we have made exhaustive efforts to recreate every facet of this beautiful engine. Our engine model uses custom thermodynamics & engine physics developed in-house over several years and refined for the Bf 109. Oil temperature, pressure & viscosity are among the many features accurately simulated – which means that failures are possible too!
  • All-new electrical modelling captures every detail in the electrical system, down to the smallest bulb. Electrical failures & circuit breakers are present and fully functional.
  • Custom ground handling physics & landing gear models developed for the 109 to capture the unique ground handling & landing gear system. The landing gear can be damaged & collapsed; be sure to watch those landings and read up on emergency procedures!
  • Beautiful UV cockpit lighting - each light is individually designed and each casting real ambient light for a breathtaking night flight experience.
  • Experience true immersion with dynamic cockpit vibrations, animated fuel line bubbles, a functional gunsight and much more!
  • Full integration of the FlyingIron Pilot’s Tablet – which includes UX features such as Autopilot, various aircraft options, realism settings, data monitoring, weight & balance page and much more. All tablet settings are saved & persistent, so you can set & forget!

Out, bought, downloaded, flown.

Simply superb, as all of the Flyingiron Simulations aircraft have been.  This one may well take the biscuit.  The auto slots on the leading edge...just wow.
