Well, assuming what has been shown here was intended to be freeware from the get-go (no one's confirmed that as far as I can see)...Let's hope Tim gets to release this product he's been working on before he joins up with you guys! Once that happens he'll get paid for his work, but the rest of us get to enjoy the great work he's done up until now for free. It's win-win.It would really be a shame for such a great-looking freeware release (once again, assuming that's what it was to begin with) to get gobbled up and become payware "at the last minute" :)

I think the freeware thing was just speculation. In terms of textures at high definition like FEX it is very difficult to obtain source material and also is costly (camera equipment, polarized filters, avgas etc), making freeware kind of difficult :-(.Also the time input is much much greater than in FS9 low resolution textures.

talent and imagination wouldn't be rewarded, in part, by money. At the last minute or before the hour. Particularly around here, as we have been used to hear commercial considerations as reasonable explanation for basically everything. I, for one, am happy to indulge. When I think of "gobbling up" stuff in this business, creative independent developers are not the ones immediately coming to mind.

Those are great looking clouds and water. I will be watching for this to be released for sure.

I have a somewhat different opinion on the free/pay philosophy (get your flames at the ready everyone). When someone shows the talent that is on display here (at least judging by static screen shots which is all we really have to go on), they should be compensated for it by the community so that others devoting their time and energy have something to shoot for. There's room for both freeware and payware. I'm glad to see the FEX guys feeling like they need to beat Phil Taylor to the punch.Bidding war, anybody?

It was a decision based solely within myself. I never publicly mentioned that this was to be a freeware project, only talked amongst friends as to which way I wanted to take it. If this disappoints some, I apologize, but I am confident that everyone will benefit from this package if they so choose. I am very grateful to the people who have stood by me in my work and have believed in me. I respectfully hope that you can support my decision. Who knows what the future may bring.

>I respectfully hope that you can support my decision. Who>knows what the future may bring.Tim,Pieces of work (artwork really) such as you have developed, of very high quality are never obtained easily, without great dedication and time. I certainly understand your decision and although like everyone here, quality freeware is always a wonderful thing, I believe quality payware may have a greater longevity, and provide you and those concerned with a means to make it all continue to happen and improve for those that support you.I already have FEX and frankly I am completely excited to hear you are thinking of joining that great team too!Well done mate.Paul

No worries Tim. Your work is very impressive and I have no problem plunking down some coin to enjoy it. This is kinda interesting how this is coming together.

I am curious to know...if there would be animation or at least an illusion of movement/animation on those "transparent" water while flying over it. (DX9 or DX10)The Static screen shots are amazing of course. Not seen anything like it in FSim.Manny

Having Tim's work under the payware realm, to me, is a positive thing. This ensures more longevity for the great work that Tim does. I have heard many good quality freeware developers stop their work eventually because the demands of life or other things took priority, as it should, however, if a person is getting a financial return, more incentive to continue and improve exists. In regards to joining with the FEX/FTX group, I am all for it. I think the FET/FTX product will be the best in terms of graphics and am totally happy to hear that the already high level of talent for the group will be increased even more. Higher level talent and vision = better flight sim.

Photoshop is a wonderfull program!

No one had proven without a shadow of doubt that this was going to be freeware, so I couldn't be sure ;)I *was* hoping for freeware, though, because my understanding is that your partnership with the FEX crew means your textures will be released through Flight1. As far as I know the only way to pay when dealing with Flight1 is to use a credit card. That's just not an option for me (I don't want a credit card).
