It's not designed to take you 3000 miles on holiday. It's a short range air taxi. If they hit the price per mile they are aiming at it'll be as cheap as an Uber.

That's the only kind of service they will be able to provide, isn't it? I think there is still a helicopter service connecting LaGuardia with JFK, so they could do that, too. Helicopter would be a lot more expensive than the Joby. $3 per mile is an ultra low cost. There are numerous short range routes around the world it could serve. Hence why a multitude of other EVTOL's are in development. https://evtol.news/aircraft Quite advantageous that the Joby is so quiet too. And indeed, we have some pretty amazing battery tech on its way, and Joby intend to retrofit their vehicle with that tech when available. So range can only increase.
