I appreciate that post. Thanks. You know, the occasional apology from someone whose passion overwhelmed them and made a quick post they regret would go far. Fortunately there are others here who do that for them. Thanks again.

As that sort of>site? Are we all so perfect in our every day lives that each>and every little thing that some one feels is wrong needs to>be taken as worth a personal attack? Cannot we be a little>more tolerant and understanding a community?>You have to remember, there are people here that are really passionate about anything Flight Sim and there are people here that are really stupid. Most of us are the former , so please don't get upset over the bad seeds. Your work and dedication to your work is more appreciated than is shown. Oh, and what are the other 4 sites so I can check them out? LOLEDIT: I just saw Steves (Pastorpilot) post, great stuff sir!

Well said Steve, and I echo the sentiment. It's been a pleasure to see the development team posting here and on other forums and I'd hate to have that fade away. The past year has been turbulent with many posts degrading into sheer utter nonsense and those who have liked FSX have been called a really excited user and other seemingly derogatory remarks not to mention the utter disrespect for moderators and Aces members who have posted here. There has been a plethora of debate on the the vailidity of posting a positive FSX post and the negativity that inevitably follows to rapidly quench the enthusiasm of those enjoying FSX.I believe it has been estabalished that a valid complaint based on fact should not be looked down upon and can indeed spark thoughtful and productive debate and discussion, conversely a valid compliment of FSX should not be deluged with endless ranting based on individual gripes and vendettas as so often happens in this forum. So again, I echo the sentiments of Steve above and hope Phil and the rest of the Aces team continue to post here allowing us unprecedented access to the development process, tips and general thoughts.

Phil,"Really, is that how AVSim wishes to be seen? As that sort of site?"Making that statement is just as bad as someone blaming you and/or ACES for a minor delay, problems with FSX, etc. AVSIM is not the problem here, it is the idiots writing those horrible things. I am glad that you come here to update the community and answer questions, and you deserve the same exact respect as everyone else in here...no more, no less. Hopefully you will not think of AVSIM as the problem, but only those who have made the specific comments and gestures that you (and I'm sure most of us) disagree with.-Mike

....and I am going to step in and state something very clearly.1) it is no fun to come back from a hard day at work and face this2) I apologize to Phil on behalf of avsim for a few individuals who must have missed out on good manners somewhere in their life-they do not for sure represent the majority here3) I am fed up. Get my drift? Astro has been shown the door-any other takers?http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Sorry Mike, I have to disagree. The people are the community.I didnt see people jumping all over wingnut when he threw the hangman's noose at me. I didnt see any repudiation of that, when the merest suggestion of combat or full crash damage gets a complete rakeover. That was a suggestion of directed violence at an individual. Where was the collective outrage? And I reserve the right to defend myself. So my statement *is* different in kind.

plusFlightSimWorld, com ( Mango takes amazing screenshots )SimViation.comFlyAwaySimulation.comUK2000Scenery.com ( Gary Summons makes amazing airports )FlightSimulationforums.com ( RadarMan helped me out )So thats 8, plus AVSim is 9. Its true, my post count is much higher here. But so is the abuse count.Look, its not the tough questions or issues I mind. Those, delivered respectfully, are fair game. And I think over the last year ( yes its been basically a year since I introduced myself during the furor over RTM ) I have contributed to the community on exactly those sorts of topics. And I even made one "I am just a flyer like the rest of you" post about the seaplanes and float planes in my hangar. Which is cool and all.But the personal attacks, or the demands for "Aces or Phil to answer this for me right now" kind of stuff gets old real quick. The good thing, I guess, is there are enough regular guys who hang out to mostly counteract the negative. But it doesn't have to be that way here, really. Give it 10 seconds, realize its a game, and lighten up. Or if you are not having fun, why are you still doing it? Isn't life too short for holding that sort of bad energy in? Isn't "walking away" ( to quote Road Warrior ) the best thing to do? I mean, if you arent happy doing something why persist in doing it?

Edited a little:Phil, you must ignore criticizing comments and don't take them personally - as they will always exist. Must of us here love flight simulator and want nothing else but for the sim to get better. So, lets continue onward with the thoughts of the beautiful sim in mind and try to ignore the occasional distractions and critisism. Thanks,

Phil-Sorry-sometimes I work long hours and am not around. Hopefully I just took care of one problem-Wingnut was removed last week and wingnut1 is being reviewed.I just took over the moderator job here in January-I am still learning-have tried to be fair, and even taken heat recently on those who think this site is overly biased in a positive sense. My nice guy status is changing rapidly-be assured if I am not asleep or around I am going to be more proactive-I find I now need to learn how to bleep rude users. Hopefully I just did my first.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

>Sorry Mike, I have to disagree. >>The people are the community.>Very, very true. And if I may....Mr. Taylor I fully believe the community is with you, I for one certainly am. Others are as well."We" (meaning those of us who do not pipe in with outrage at the overt trolling) simply do so out of courtesy to AvSim to not feed said trolls, and allow the moderators to do their jobs. I am a moderator at another site and appreciate that the whole sum of the positive user base chiming in adds fuel to any fires, whereas the moderators know exactly what the boundaries are and also know how to state responses that are aligned with their website's policies. So, believe me, a lot of tongue-biting goes on. It doesn't mean we don't support you.The 80/20 rule of life applies here more than anything I believe, and it simply means that the 80% "we" refuse to entertain outragous statements from the 20% of others who make 80% of the noise and also may lack both the moral fiber to consider the real wieght of their words, and a simple understanding of sensible moral boundaries (or manners if you prefer). 'Tain't worth letting them get a rise out of ya......the mods here do an outstanding job considering the user base is extremely large and keeps them busy. And yup, I do this for fun and even had the day off today....went to go buy X-Pack and when I learned it wasn't going to be on the shelves yet, I snapped my fingers, said "aww Shucks" and walked back out to the parking lot grinning....it was a nothin' deal to me, since tomorrow's gauranteed to be another day!Let me ask this... there are times I would have liked to, very much, added a snappy comeback to some of the ridiculous and petty statements that show up from time to time. Would the moderators and AvSim appreciate it if I and others did so? Would it really add value to a sensible discussion of any useful topic? I'm betting not... so please don't take that as lack of support.(If I'm wrong I'd like to know, so I can stop biting this well-chewed tongue!) :)

I didn't see collective outrage when that post was made, though there were some who commented. But I don't see collective outrage towards you or ACES either. Actually, my impression of this forum is that most people are grateful for your participation. I also get the impression that the vast majority of people here are very respectful. I couldn't be happier with the fact that you come here and help resolve issues. In fact, you resolved an issue of mine within minutes of my post last year. I only hope that you see these posters for the idiots they are and not as a representative of AVSIM. The moderators do a great job, but sometimes they miss stuff. Everyone here can send a PM to a moderator if they see something they find inappropriate, and I hope that the entire community will assist with moderating the forums. If it gets too bad in here I would love to see you in the FS9 forum. There are plenty of us over there that could use your help.-Mike

Thanks Mike! I do have a day/night job and so do the other moderators. Very often the only way we know something is out of whack is an alert from a fellow simmer. Please to all help keep this a nice place and a place Microsoft developers wish to communicate in.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/
