Phil,Don't think that just because you don't see an outcry over an out of line statement someone makes that AVSIM mods don't get to know about it via other means. On more than a few occassions I have reported a post to mods via the "Alert" link, especially where I don't want to see a thread denigrate any further. I am sure others do this as well.Gary

I am not happy with outright banning on my behalf, is there a way to restrict posting for a month or something like that? Unfortunately it seems warnings dont take. And thanks for the thoughts, I appreciate your job cannot be easy either. To everyone - just remember this, behind any posts from someone at MS is a person. Regardless of your impression of MS as a company, at Aces are people who eat, breath, sleep, and care about FS just like you. We are not out to lie to you, to rip you off, or to treat you badly. Sometimes we make mistakes, yes. Sometimes we also admit them. And we cannot be everywhere or fix everything, because as John J. McGraw once said, we put our pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else.

Hey Geof,Hang in there. I feel your pain. I rarely post in threads that have gone "south", as often there is little that brings it back to decency short of a mod having to take the ultimate action. You are doing a great job, and I for one appreciate another person with real world flying experience when it comes to real aviation matters. Thanks also to Phil for taking the time to visit with us- which in itself is unprecedented.Bruce.

Funny enough I just noticed there was an alert link, over 700 posts and that's the first time I've seen it. Doh!As far as the infamous gallows situation, I'll say I was pretty outraged at that and was also suprised there wasn't more of a response, although to be fair it was buried pretty deep in the thread. If I had known about the alert link I would've used it then.

I am not at all happy with banning anyone-but as you pointed out above-we all sometimes make a mistake but an apology sometimes goes a long way. Since I did not see one I followed the avsim rules which I rarely do-and I agree-it seems a certain few just don't get it-I see little reason to let those few spoil it for the many others....I just want to express again-we have been waiting for years for a dialog with you guys-it is great to have you here-be assured most are also elated at having this communication. I think it is something that is good for everyone who are flight sim junkies.Having met some of the team-not only do you guys put your pants on one leg at a time-you guys are maniacs and fanatics about flight simming-maybe more than many of us are.I was at the Aopa expo a couple years ago in Sarasota-and watched Hal spend quite some time landing the Dc3 at ST. Barts.I came home and said to my wife-there is someone to think about-spends hours on the project-and then spends hours of free time enjoying it. Even in my profession which many would consider somewhat luxurious-it is rare to see such enthusiasm!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

What's wrong with debating the release date? 23rd was the date, and it has come and gone.... there's nothing rude about that.... yeah some rude people, but I'm a little upset too...come on, it's Flight sim! Weren't you there for opening day for FSX? I was there bright n early at my local Best Buy... :)

Thanks Bruce..You know after so many years of hanging out-there are just certain people you would like to meet and have a nice evening of talking real flying, flight simming, and maybe a few brews.I hope we can do so some time...Best,http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

With all this talk about release date, ship date and available date etc. I was wandering; I paid for FSX Accelerate at my local GameStop

That's actually an interesting question. I used to serve Amazon in Newark delaware and I know they get all there stock via UPS and other carriers in large tractor trailers and store merchandise most likely comes in a similar fashion.Merchandise distrubution is pretty amazing, there was something on air cargo on one of the science channels and it's mind boggling how quickly something can go around the world from factory to store front.

Hi Phil,I don't know if this is culture related, or out-of-the-box related, but when I read this post with the hang man, I interpreted it more like: "I won't have what I would have liked in my FS, I rather hang myself" kind of tone, and nothing directed to you.Maybe a "french" way to read derision in a post though.Hope this helps!

Yes Geof, I look forward to that. Some good ol' hanger talk :)Bruce.

Its not about debate, that completely misses the point. Its about mutual respect. And about having an atmosphere of the same. Not one of fear, and distrust, and suspicion, and accusation.I dont believe I ever stated 10-23. If I did, I freely apologize. But in the original post in my blog I carefully stated "late October". I saw a thread by another AVSimmer that stated the 23rd. Maybe thats where it became the "lore". Or maybe its a confusion between "release" and "street". Dates are always estimates, unless its your wedding date. So to take any date that seriously is just begging for a fall. But hey, do that in private. To take a date as a promise to you personally and then start blaming it as a personal affront so that you can point at people - thats part of the tone that is just wrong around the planet right now. And then to accept that tone is ok and part of the normal back-forth, that also is part of the problem, and I state that without trying to single you out. And its part of the problem with the larger world around us where normal discourse seems to be impossible. Maybe I am tilting at windmills here, and my inner Sancho Panza needs to tell me to stop, but I think raising the level of interaction is a worthy goal.I repeat, Aces is not here to lie to you, rip off you off, or mistreat you and its other customers. We understand you are our lifeblood. So why treat us as if each and every action has to be microscoped and if there is any little thing wrong with it, well we are "out to get you?".

Hey, Geoff, I believe you have my phone number, why don't you give me a call tomorrow. I'd like to talk to you again. :)Phil Taylor, I don't think I met you a couple of years ago, but I look forward to meeting you next month. Drinks on me, and we'll have much to talk about.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg
