Not so fun fact: when Bernie Witkowski recorded Airplane Polka, he had the trombone player imitate a plane engine at the introduction.

Or do people rather want another Cessna or Piper GA ?

Well, imagine no physical interaction with tarmac and runways for those Cessnas and answer your question yourself...

July, 1929. At 3:36 a German oompah band serenades the Do X maiden flight. You can see the band leader waving his arms, lol.

Really confusing. While the Tante Ju had plenty of charisma these Microsoft Planes are getting more and more boring.

Along with each new plane I would expect at least one unique new feature based on the SDK to showcase how 3rd Parties can implement.

On its own, it is really a nice aircraft. There is plenty of interior modelling and it looks great.
Off course its system depth is shallow but it is probably a fun aircraft to fly once in a while.

However, with so many similar (they are in the same boat at least) aircraft all competing for this "once in a while" event most will stay parked in the virtual hangar forever.
It is as if Microsoft is trying to create a virtual aircraft museum.

And that's fine by me. Lots of folk go on about it being a "flight" simulator rather than a scenery simulator. I'm not interested in pretending to fly the things, but I am interested in the aircraft themselves. Being able to get hold of extremely well (visually) modelled aircraft at such reasonable prices seems like a wonderful thing to me. I've bought loads of aircraft I'll probably only "fly" a few times, but I will explore them in various locations a lot more often. You'd pay more than the cost of one of these to get in to most actual exhibitions, and they wouldn't let you fly the real ones at all.

And I haven't looked at such things for probably 30 years or more now but I suspect even the most basic model aircraft kit costs more than these.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Thank you!   That's what I'm talkin' about!  😁👍

it has more engines than can actually be controlled

Wait, it doesn't have individually controllable engines?

With SU12 they introduced support for up to 16 engines, why are they not using it? I can understand the Antonov, it came basically at the same time as SU12, so too close. But this had enough time since then...
