October 26, 200718 yr That looks AMAZING Ryan. October 26, 200718 yr >>It is a linear>>first person shooter with small maps.>>Everyone seriously needs to stop saying this stuff. Crysis>dynamically streams LOD data and it can have up to 60nm view>distance in full 3D at once. It's not "small maps".>>Watch this video, one of the devs is using the (fully in game)>editor and explains how it works:> Well, the man in the video says "up to 60 km," not miles. Also, that map is still gounded in one bounded world which is less than the earth FS models.Sure, something like Crysis is more advanced, but I don't think the comparisons are the same. October 26, 200718 yr Not only a year later-same as dog years in computer time-but the minimum specs for Crysis are my present computer-which runs fsx just fine at an average of 20 fps with quite a few sliders the right. Should I expect Crysis to run as great or better than fsx with a similar asortment of sliders to the right, duplicating screenshots that show Crysis running at its' max- when their pr. says they are looking forward 2 years on hardware, and I have the absolute minimum hardware specs?Should I be surprised if I bought it and found otherwise?http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 26, 200718 yr But you aren't viewing the 'whole world' at once in FSX either! As I mentioned in another thread, there have been too many changes in the PC world right around the time of FSX development. multi-core CPU's, DX10, Vista have all played a part.I think FSX will turn out to be a valuable learning experience for ACES and they will come back stronger with FS11. Hopefully ending 'backwards compatability' once and for all and moving onto a more upto date base for the series in the future. At this point, FSX is what it is. I don't think the same mistakes will happen in the development of FS11.Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
October 26, 200718 yr Read this at another forum:"I'm getting 12.85 FPS on the SP demo!!1920x1080, All graphics settings to HIGH. 0xAAThere's a VERY HIGH setting that I don't dare try."Sound familiar? It's about Crysis.http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1234849Microsoft isn't the only developer programming for the future.
October 26, 200718 yr I know this is bad etiquette, and my post should probably be deleted, but, thank you for spelling MOOT correctly! October 26, 200718 yr Fall 2009?? You want a few people to write a completely new graphics engine in a year?? Actually, a fall 2009 release date would give less than a year of development time at this point most likely. Good Luck!!!Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
October 26, 200718 yr Commercial Member >So let me underestand this. Crysis does not stop at stages>to load to go to next stage? like half-like and fear? From what I understand yes, it's a seamless game. That's not new though - look at World of Warcraft for instance. The only time that loads is switching continents and even then that's only because they're on different server clusters, it's more a networking than a graphics thing. October 26, 200718 yr Whenever then....Seeing as I dont work for ACES, I couldn't tell you what the schedule for FS11 is.I was basing it on past timeframes for FS releases. If it takes tll 2010, so be it. October 26, 200718 yr No, but go up to 500,000 in slew and back down again, that transition isn't happening in most other games. Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
October 26, 200718 yr Ok, so tell me what 'details' you can see from 500,000 feet? And why does it need to?This is flightsim, not spacesim. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
October 26, 200718 yr >Ok, so tell me what 'details' you can see from 500,000 feet?>>I was responding to your "whole world" at once claim. Granted, at altitude, you can't see the "whole world" but the round earth is modeled.MSFS is modeling MORE than the other games. It is that simple. Hey I'd like to be wrong, I'd like for an amazing Crysis-like engine to appear in the next version, but I am think there are trade-offs. Breaking backwards compat can allow them to optimize portions which hold the whole apparatus back, but I don't think every last stitch needs re-writing.
