Importing FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft into Prepar3d

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, sorry for all of the questions recently.  Have been trying my best to learn everything I can without having to ask.

Is it possible to copy non-default FSX/FSX-SE aircraft into Prepar3d v5?  I was able to move the stock 737-800 with a couple of my Delta liveries over and I can see them fine in the simulator.  I have a few POSKY and Camsim Boeing and Airbus aircraft that I moved over in the same manner but I do not see a preview of them in the Vehicle page of P3D and they are completely invisible when they load in the sim.

Is there a certain way of importing aircraft into P3D or am I stuck having to sink a lot of dollars into payware aircraft?

Yes, copy/paste FSX aircraft to P3DV5 is possible for most more or less simple aircraft. But don‘t forget to also copy the gauges (if not in the aircraft gauge folder already) as well the effects linked to the specific aircraft (to be found in the FSX effects folder). However, you might loose the specific cockpit sounds. But again, for simple aircraft there are workarounds to get some of those sounds back.

Complex addon aircraft can usually not successfully transferred like this; they most probably won‘t work.

For  P3DV6 I have found that most aircraft that are FSX and P3DV5 capable are good to go  in version 6.

I have heard that if I want to use payware planes from FSX, I have to make sure FSX is completely uninstalled from my computer first, and then I should be able to install them into P3DV6.  Is that correct?  I don't want to delete FSX (I'm on my very last reinstall available for FSX) if that's not the case.  Thanks!

I have never heard of that before. You should be fine to have both sims installed at the same time.

POSKY definitely work in P3Dv5 and I am pretty sure Camsim does too. It sounds like a possible error in your aircraft.cfg, do you want to post the content (not the whole file, maybe just the aircraft entries). Make sure your texture=*** exactly the name of the texture folder and sim=*** the name of the air file.
