Brakes not releasing after using pedals

Featured Replies

I have thrustmaster T. Flight rudder pedals but just recently when applying brakes I then have to use the keyboard ctrl + num decimal option to release them.  This is with stock and pmdg 737 aircraft. I have fsuipc installed but no axis are assigned to brakes so there should be no conflict. Have assigned a new keyboard profile to remove the keyboard command but the problem still exists. Would appreciate any advice to remedy this.

Thanks

Phil

Phil, I'm not an expert and far from a guiding voice but if I could add my two cents...I had this problem when I first started using my pedals and found out that once I had applied full brake pressure and the aircraft had stopped, I needed to toe tap the brakes fully again to release them.

I assume you have done this?

Hi. Thanks for your response but I tried that but the only way I can get the aircraft to come off the brakes is to use the keyboard method. On the pmdg 737 the handbrake releases ok by pressing the brake pedals but then if I use the brake pedals to temporarily stop or hold the aircraft they remain on and the only way to get it moving is to use the keyboard. Very frustrating.

I have had this happen also and find that I have to toggle the parking brake.. This did not happen before, it is new..

I also have FSUIPC installed and double checked my axis assignments..  The first page under Joystick Calibration contains my Yoke and Rudder assignments, but the second page actually containes my toe brakes which I had also assigned in MSFS.  I have now removed them in MSFS and will see if that makes the problem disappear..

On the FMC look in the aircraft options? that parking brake release is set to "Realistic". For some reason mine had changed to Simple, or Basic or some such, but when I set it to Realistic the brake releases using pedals.

It is happening with my TM pendular pedals too. As you know, left brake axis and right brake axis are assigned to the left and right brake pedal by default. And this problem exists: if I press both brakes down and release, then the parking brakes lock (however, the parking brake handle does not move).

Most of us have 2 throttle levers, such as on a quadrant. Try this on a simple GA airplane: make a copy of your throttle quad profile by clicking on the clone image in msfs profile manager. Remove the assignment on one of its throttle levers (you aren't messing up your original profile by doing this, only messing up the copy). Now assign right brake axis to that lever. Next assign left brake axis to that same lever. Now when you move the lever both brakes will be applied proportionally to how far you move the lever.

Go fly. I think you will find that if you are rolling down the runway and push the lever full forward, the plane will stop but the brakes will not lock. That  is if you move the lever back and rev up the engine the plane will indeed roll forward.

But if instead you push both right and left brakes on your pedals fully to stop the plane, the brakes will lock up. Control + num decimal will unlock them. Otherwise the plane will no longer roll.

The above makes little sense but that is what is happening to me. So I am now using a throttle lever to apply the brakes to stop the plane rolling when I land.

This issue might not happen on an airliner with complicated braking assignments.

There are generic brake issues cropping up recently which effect some aircraft more than others.

One of the worst for this is the Flight Design CTLS - it is almost impossible to taxi he thing these days, you are continually toggling parking brake on/off to clear the stuck brakes and keep it moving. On a recent livestream everyone flying it had issues.
