1 GB connection - making it online/photogrammetry hangs sys

Featured Replies

Very reliable 1 Gb/sec comcast connection (tested while sim is running)
Empty Community Folder / Normal Mode 1.34.16.0  - checking for updates finds none only takes 1' 45" to get to World Map

Options/Data show ON for online/Bing World/Photogrammety
I select Textron 172 and KTIW in World Map and click FLY

10" for blue progress bar to extend 80% of way to right - spends another minute or three doing ??  Network activity varies between 0 and 32 kps with occasional bursts to 100 kps but sim CPU stays above 40%

At Ready to Fly screen I get a low bandwidth message and "switched to offline mode"

I go to data options and see that Online Functionality is enabled but Bing World Data is OFF and Photo... is grayed out OFF

I set Bing and Photo... to ON and click APPLY and get the PLEASE WAIT Applying Settings message with a spinning white circle in the bottom right corner - then a WARNING appears telling me the connection has an issue - then warning disappears and sometime later reappears - all the while showing no or almost no network activity but Speedtest shows 950 Mbs to over 1 Gps

Sometimes stays in that loop until I kill the sim.

Sometimes, after many minutes of applying, the Data option shows Online/Bing World Graphics/Photogrametry ON.  When I press RESUME -  the sim progresses to flying BUT only the offline scenery is loaded. Options/Data then shows I am offline - I try to enable Bing but then get back into the Warning "connection issue" or "connection lost"

Sim was running super last night but the problem above has been occurring for many hours today (EST Nov 😎

Any thoughts?

Your connection is only as good as the weakest link...that includes the server, and every node the data passes through.

If you're getting good throughput to other sites, then most likely it's a problem at the server end.  These are the perils of reliance on streaming data.

Switching to Map Enhancement using Google Earth solved the problem and returned to 40 fps as usual.

BUT - sim then hung after I landed and switched off all electronics - at the RESTART CONTINUE MAIN MENU screen - eventually had to kill the task

Have seen this also few times... Not lately however.

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

I've solved this by using a good vpn and connecting to ms servers in Japan when all the Nippys are fast asleep but it's daytime here
