Ah sorry I misunderstood I thought it the ILS wasn't available at all. Just been up for a short flight in the 146 over the Peak District then back onto 25, I presumed no ILS so eyeballed a visual approach. Is there a way to turn off the rabbit run approach light system and just have steady lights? 787 captain. I had never heard that terminology before. Pesky Wabbits! What is the technical term for them? I seem to remember someone calling them lead-in lights. Not sure if that is correct. I seem to remember someone calling them lead-in lights. Not sure if that is correct They’re just known colloquially as rabbits in the industry, but yes lead in lights would also apply which really applies to the whole approach light system, in this case they’re sequenced flashing lead in lights. There’s various configurations for IFR runways termed ALSF -I & II , amongst others. I wouldn’t worry too much about their names, if it’s good weather you just ignore them, if you’re down to cat 1 minimum you’re just glad to see them and couldn’t care less what the configuration is called 🙂 787 captain. January 13, 20242 yr A bit of colour mismatch for airfields is helpful; makes the field stand out plus many fields do not always match the neighbouring more agricultural landscapes. Great work on the new UK airfields.
