It's a 4090, nothing new really

Oops - my mistake. I thought I was responding to G-RFRY’s thread about cableless PC builds …

I find it interesting that 24GB is now required for MSFS let hope Nvidia get the message and the 5090 has 48GB and only cost 3,000 when released😁.

I game in 1440p and my 3080 hasn't gone above 10GB of VRAM so no idea how anyone can hit 24GB.

Higher resolution. Higher settings.

The problem is MSFS and P3D are CPU dependent and the 4090 is never pushed full on. Test in benchmarks show this the CPU cannot feed data fast enough for the GPU. The CPU is king in flight sim based on MS 20 year old code. Asobo said starting from scratch with a new code would have added years to the development. and Phil Spencer needed it out ASAP for the new console and Game Pass.

So why would anyone get a high end graphics card? Because they are needed, especially at higher resolutions.

Do you guys think it's worth upgrading from a 3080 to a 4070 S for FG and small bump in VRAM? I fly in 1440p.

I run P3D v5.3HF2 in 4K with some aircraft very heavy on graphics like the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 with its many analogue gauges and extremely demanding lights. I have ASCA clouds to their highest settings and many GPU-dependent settings in P3D are near max too.

Had a 16Gb 4090 been available I would have opted for it. But it's either a 12Gb card or 24Gb. Users are forced to buy the 24Gb one because 12Gb is sometimes not enough in 4K at airports like Miami - the heaviest in terms of VRAM I have encountered.
