New Nvidia Driver 552.12 disables FG mod?

Featured Replies

I have an RTX 3080, and have been using the FG mod to get the higher FPS, which I was really pleased with. But it seems that the newest Nvidia driver 552.12 disables that mod. I've tried re-installing the FG mod and turning off the signature checks, but no luck. I haven't tried rolling back the driver yet, it's a bit of hassle, but I will if there's no other choice. Is anyone else with an older  pre RTX 4*** card having the same problem with the FG mod?

Thanks - Bob

Bob.
Thanks for the warning.  I will watch this closely.  I am with a 3080 as well and using the FG mod and the latest update of AutoFPS.  I completed a Hjet flight from San Jose KSJC to Santa Ana KSNA today flying the ELLBC.OHSEA2 arrival and 20R approach.  That includes some signigicant scenery density and performance was marvelous to say the least.  AutoFPS showing my FPS steady at approx 80.  I'd recommend rolling back and standing pat.  I am using driver gaming v 536.99

So, I rolled back to my old Nvidia driver 546.33, I think from sometime around Christmas, re-installed the FG mod, and sure enough, the FG mod worked just fine. The difference is over 30 fps more in almost all every MSFS flying situation with the mod active.

I wonder if the FG mod's author can update the mod for the new Nvidia driver? I sure don't fancy going back to less than 30 fps when flying. And my retirement budget doesn't allow umpteen thousand dollar updates for a new card, at least in the immediate future. Oh well, just fyi...

I'm have a 3080Ti  with the 552.12 drivers and FG is working perfectly.

Did you need to reinstall the steps for the FG mod?  Or did it stay unaffected?

Here is what AutoFPS and FG do for my sim performance. This at FL340 over the eastern Sierra's enroute from Denver to San Jose yesterday.  Note the Sim Values.  My system specs are in my message footer.  I am running MSFS at true 4K and mostly Ultra settings.  I embrace use of both mods.  FG and AutoFPS.  AutoFPS actually controls TLOD and OLOD while maintaining FPS.  Wish I had captured screenshots at 3,500 over the Santa Ana mountians and the Orange County floor below enroute to John Wayne.  I formerly lived in that area and today it looked so real.

That's interesting. How did you install the new driver?  I simply followed my usual upgrade procedure of using the recommended express install inside the driver installer. Graphic driver only, no G-force. I didn't uninstall the FG mod before hand, or reset the signature check (maybe I should have done that first?).

Anyway. I may try again (I may be old, but I am persistent).

Thanks - Bob

FG was unaffected by the driver update.

That said, I didn't do my usual DDU procedure. Lately I've been using the new Nvidia app so I just used its driver update feature and selected Clean Install.

After the install I flushed the shaders. Another thing I noticed which may be due to using the new Nvidia app to update the drivers was that my Nvidia control panel settings were unaffected.

Is designed to integrate a bunch of Nvidia stuff into the one app. Like  Geforce Experience, filters, driver install, control panel etc.

Its currently in beta but I'm finding it working really well. Click here to have a look.

And click here for an IslandSimPilot video.

It sure is better than GeForce Experience.
Whoever decided Nvidia should push you to set up 2FA and log in to a bloatware app just to update your drivers was really on something.
At least the new app has some additional, albeit limited, functionality.

I don't login and I've been able to do all I need to do.

I like being able to change filters on the fly and have the filter settings stay put (something which  Nvidia Experience was having trouble with), plus bring up a performance monitor overlay and be able update video drivers while keeping my control panel settings.

Thanks everyone. I finally got 552.12 installed and the FG mod working. Together.

Maybe it's time to get an x-box...

Bob.  Please do not dissolve into the sky here.  Am interested in any objective differences you see with the new driver.  Pretty sure others are interested as well.
