Turbulence over forests

Featured Replies

I like to fly low and slow, but honestly those turbulences over forests seem to be overly done.

Even with clear sky my plane is shaking violently as long as i am over the trees.

Do you think this effect is well done and true to life ?, any possibility to tune it ?

What do you have your in-game turbulence setting on?  I find it is all very overdone and keep it on 'Low'.....

I use medium as this replicates what I have experienced in RW flying the best.  You do get rising air from forests in the RW and I frequently used to use it for gliding in the early evening as the trees stored the warm air during the day and then began to release it.  It can be a little aggressive in msfs at times though.

I have 'realistic' setting, but it feels way off realistic 🙂

Forests are darker color naturally, so if it was a warm day the heat would be rising off of them.  Hard to say if its unrealistic or not.  Warm days here in MSP area I went flying irl and it was bumpy as heck hehe.

Not necessarily because warm temps increase transpiration which has evaporative cooling effects so can offset that, and also trees absorb a lot of sunlight which then does not go to directly heat up the ground so not sure how well you could simulate that with much accuracy.
