Play offline?

I have lost the internet inside my home. It will be several days before new cable can be installed inside the house. I tried to play offline but can't figure out how to do that. It says I have to be online to set it up for that. Anyone know a way around that. All I have is data on my cell phone.

Thanks

From what I understand - You can use the offline mode, This only works if you installed offline mode previously otherwise not much can be done until you are back up online. You can still try to install offline mode to see if works.

Have a look below:

I assume you already know this, but the off-line scenery in MSFS2020 is a throwback to what we had many years ago. This sim is designed to run with streamed real-world scenery -- really its main attraction -- and, for me anyway, holds no interest without the RW. I accept that others may have a different opinion on this, but boy, it's hard to understand how!

What about world updates that are already installed - I am assuming that should work fine in offline mode?

WUs install locally things like POIs, airports and improvements on the autogen (buildings and vegetation), I also think elevation is installed locally, but I'm not sure.

Satellite imagery and photogrammetry won't be available off-line.

And (certainly last time I was offline) the fallback is very low res satellite imagery, rather than textures &/or land class. Which makes it look worse than the other simulators....

There's no Satellite imagery in off-line mode. It's all covered by default textures. Unless of course you have manual cache on and you stored some parts of the scenery locally, if you clear the manual cache you will get the textures back.

Interesting, can't say if I had the rolling cache on (might have), never once used the manual one for sure though.

Yeah, maybe it's the rolling cache kick-in with lower LOD satellite imagery. I would clear up those.

When I kept getting those  low bandwidth messages and was kicked offline, it seemed to me it was just like FSX. Still playable but not very interesting.
