Fenix: Tiller logic wrong?

Just set a rudder axis per normal in MSFS and click the rudder pull tab when you want to use nosewheel steering. You don't need to deactivate it either when lining up, it will automatically do so when you apply takeoff thrust.

Except that none of that works on my system/HOTAS/rudders. Neither nosewheel nor tiller move - regardless of whatever button I use to engage/disengage them. I understand the theory about take off etc. but I'm just about regular taxiing.

I also understand how it's *supposed* to work (i RL and in-sim) ... but it simply does not work on my system. Period.

Sorry - I forgot to say that I appreciate your input - and I'm trying not to be negative (!).

To start with, if you've got a set of rudder pedals - make sure ONLY the rudder is bound to them in MSFS. If you've got a set of rudder pedals and a tiller - make sure both are bound to their requisite functions. Unchecked bindings can cause this kind of havoc.

At baseline, if you've got a simple rudder axis bound in MSFS correctly, you load in to the runway (without anything else in your community folder) - no FSUIPC/FSR/Chaseplane all that sort of stuff - and you you move your rudder left to right after load in and initialization is complete, and nothing happens, get in touch with support as something is not right on your system and needs a bit of 1:1 investigation.

Many thanks Amir - I'll have another go at it. I only have rudder pedals - and no additional (hardware) tiller. Neither do I have a spare rotary or slider on my Stick/throttle where I could configure a separate axis. I already tried unbinding my MSFS tiller assignment from my rudder, but that didn't work.

I have FSUIPC auto-starting but, up until now, haven't needed to set up any controls/assignments. Not sure exactly why I run it, other than just an old habit because I used to use it a fair bit. I'll certainly try what you suggest - doing a clean startup - and see what happens. BTW - I also have Axis and Ohs running but, like FSUIPC, don't appear to need it like I used to in MSFS 2020. That'll have to go too 😉

If all that fails, then I'll document everything and get in touch with support. Apart from this little annoyance, I'm delighted with the Fenix A320 - and wouldn't mind helping to solve the problem - if it's a genuine bug, that is.

no problem, thanks for being willing to work on it with us - just hit up support when you have what you need and they'll take it from there, good luck!

Well ... it's a mystery!!!

I disabled most of my addons - including all aircraft mods FSUIPC AAOs and Chaseplane. Still nothing, so I then re-bound my rudder axis to the tiller and it worked (!). Full left/right deflection, nosewheel and tiller animations (yay!).

So ... I then gradually re-added all the above to weed out the culprit. A long process, as you can imagine ... with many sim restarts. Guess what - after adding the lot, the tiller still worked. *However* - I still had to keep my rudder axis bound to the tiller.

The tiller still doesn't move when the tiller button is up or down - regardless of whether the rudders hotspot is clicked. It seems the axis input from the rudders isn't being passed to the tiller unless it's manually duplicated/mapped in MSFS.

This is with Logitech Pro rudders.

Hi Amir! I didn't realise who you were until I logged into Discord (still waiting for approval, I think, so I can post).

Once that's all set up, I'll take this thread to Discord - unless you want to keep it on here as well, for the benefit of other users.

This is just to say that I've been giving the 320 a good workout as I've been digging around with this tiller "issue". I've always been a great supporter/user of the freeware FBW A320 - remarkable piece of work - but I thought I'd give payware a chance - and here I am (!).

I've been "flying" with full GSX and BATC integration and must say I'm hugely impressed! For such a complex product, it's behaved itself incredibly well. I'm still learning the ropes, as the Fenix A320 offers much more than the FBW, but I'm enjoying the learning curve greatly. Congratulations to all concerned!

Huh, that is a new one. Well, every day is a learning day - but could you do me a favor and just ping support with what you've found and where you're at on this? It's quite an odd one to me, I will go double check my own bindings in 2024 a little later today as I am also running a combination rudder/tiller on my foot pedals. No worries re Discord, happy to leave things here so people can find it in the future, but one thing of note is that our Discord is for "verified" customers only - it's an automatic process, you can read about it here, should just take a minute: https://support.fenixsim.com/hc/en-us/articles/12458469647119-How-to-Join-the-Fenix-Sim-Discord

This is not how it works IRL - that is just how it works on that product.

This is correct

Hi Aamir, I was wondering how to keep the pedal disc button pressed in the Fenix A320 so that I can perform a rudder control check during taxi. Thanks!

Simply push the disconnect button on the tiller.

Roger.Thanks.

There is also the possibility (with third party software like FSUIPC, Spad or AAO) to bind a button or key to a Fenix LVar. I don't have the name of the LVar at hand, but could look for it. I have a hardware tiller with a button for that use case and it works good. Again showing the depth of the Fenix.

cheers,
NiIs U.
