P3Dv5 iFly 737ng or Max

Hello all,

I am using P3D v5.4. So far I am flying the aerosoft A320/321/A330 and A2A Comanche and the Dash by Majestic. I'd like to buy a 737 addon. I can't find the PMDG P3D products any longer in their shop. Back in FSX I had the ifly 737 package which I really liked. So I think I will buy them. I know the differences between the ng models and the Max in the real world. But my question is looking from perspective how well the plane is modeled and texturized inside and outside - are there differences between 737ng and Max? Could you say that one is more optimized for P3D v5 than the other? Do both have Simbrief integration? I would like to have this because I know this from the Toliss in X-Plane. Are there EFBs with the possibility of showing charts?

From point of view of the variants I would go with the 737ng + expansion package but if for example the Max is the better addon meaning better optimized then I would go for the max.

Thank you so much in advance!

It's a shame PMDG had all vendors pull the 737 NGXU a/c from their sites.  I see Aerosoft shop still offers PMDG 737 NGX for P3Dv4.  That's a real head scratcher.  That being said, it all boils down to which cockpit style suits your preference better.  I'm not sure if iFLY has gotten all of the bugs/kinks out of the Max version yet.  Perhaps someone who is actively flying their Max can let us know for certain.

A personal note - I had the iFLY NG and Max versions installed but never warmed up to them the way I did with my PMDG NGXU birds.  I fly PMDG 737NGXu a/c 95% of the time, and the other 5% = PMDG 777 & 747, all in P3Dv5.4. Just my $0.02 of course.

Spoiler

My specs:  Intel i5-4690k 3.5gHz oc to 4.4gHz, 32 gb DDR3 @ 2400mHz, RTX 2060 11gb, Windows 10, P3Dv5.4 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. It's getting along in age but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

I only have the ifly max and love it.  I wanted to get the NGs as well but never pulled the trigger because I already have the ngxu.  There’s also not a huge selection of liveries for the NGs.

The max models rain on the windscreen where the NGs don’t, if that’s important to you.

there is no simbrief integration to automatically pull in flight plans.

As for the max, modeling, textures, and systems are all fantastic.  In my honest opinion, it is the best Boeing plane in P3d and certainly higher fidelity than the ngxu.  My only complaint is that the plane banks too aggressively when LNAV is following the magenta line.

I believe ifly said they will be releasing an update to the max in P3d after they complete the max for msfs.

in my opinion, go with the planes you think you will enjoy more.  I think they are a great value either way.

Thank you for your answers. Now I am sad that PMDG is not longer selling the NGXu but on the other hand it sounds really good what I read about the ifly... well seems I have to figure out which variants I really want to fly. Normally I try to do some Luxair flights but they use the 738 and the Max 😅

Thats a good to hear. In the end it seems it should be a no brainer in any case.

One thing to note.  If you buy the max for P3d, you will get a 40% discount off of the max for msfs.

not sure if you use msfs or not but thought I’d share as that information was just announced by ifly.

No wrong answer. Both are highly refined models. Very good stock sound packages so no need for a payware sound addon. I would plan on buying both as finances permit.

One thing there is an FS2Crew for the NG but not the MAX but Multi crew Experience works with the MAX though I don’t use it. Just if you like crew addons.

Yea great point about the sound which I failed to mention.

the max sound package was done by immersive audio I believe, and It is top notch.  Can’t comment on the NG sounds since I don’t have it.

I bought MAX and discovered some bugs that would works common in both NG and MAX IRL, iFly since have patched many of them in the current Beta3 version, but NGAS haven't get any update for quite a few time, so I assume these issue could still present on NGAS, not sure as I don't have that.

Thank you all for your answers. Well, after thinking a lot I decided I go for the NG Base package. Over the next month I might get the expansion pack as well (but there are not much liveries... didn't found one for the BJJs 😕and I am pretty sure that on christimas day I will fly the Max - lets hope so. One or two points in the end were the discount as FSX buyer and years ago I bought the FS2Crew package and never really used it. I had bought it for the aerosoft A320 in FSX. In the moment Patco Lch wrote that there is the FS2Crew available I had a look into my bought FS2Crew package and there it is mentioned for the iFly 737ng. So I hope I finally also will try that. But before I have to learn the handling of the 737ng... it is years ago I flew them in FSX. But so far I got it installed. Found a nice livery and had some clicks in the EFB. Seems it is time to reactivate my navigraph subscription and get into the air.

Thanks again and happy landings you all!
