Anyone know if the ACES team plans to fix FSX?

Recommended Posts

SP1 is ok for me but SP2 isn't. Menu freezing.I have no interest in Acceleration. We should not have to pay for an add-on to get the most current update (SP2) either.Anyway I am hoping for an SP3.

There is no further service pack release planned.Since I don't suffer from the menu freeze, what makes you certain the problem is SP2 and not something like a video driver?

"We should not have to pay for an add-on to get the most current update (SP2) either."I'm sure others will beat me responding to your frustrations with FSX but you can get SP2 for free on the FSInsider web site. You DO NOT have to purchase Acceleration to get it. Also, I thought the menu freezing problem was caused by bad installation of display drivers. Anyway, it has never happened to me yet and I know several other simmers who have never gotten the problem either. Lastly, SP3 will be FS11 - they are working on it.Best regards,Jim

Off the top of my head, I thought the menu freezing issue was primarily with FRAPS installed. Didn't Phil even mention this in a recent blog as well?

I also have the menu freeze problem and it is very frustrating and is obviously a major problem for the ACES team to get sorted.

1)SP2 is a free download from FSInsider. Acceleration is not required.2) There are no further patches for FSX. The team has moved onto FS11. So, if FSX w/SP2 is somehow broken, it will remain broken until you uninstall it and install FS11 (or FS9).HTH,Mike T.

>I also have the menu freeze problem and it is very>frustrating and is obviously a major problem for the ACES team>to get sorted. The "menu freeze" problem is caused by crappy nVidia driver support and has absolutely nothing to do with FSX or ACES. Period.Absolutely no one using an ATI video card has EVER reported a "menu freeze" problem.Quod Erat Demonstrandum...

I just loaded SP 2. On the free flight page where the pic of the acf appears there are five horizontal bars and a part of the vert stabilizer appears in every other bar. It appears to build the entire acf but the image is way too large to fit the screen if it all came together. I tried 3 acf. Same problem. Happens in "load flight" also. I know this minor but still a PIA. It didn't recognize my GoFlight MCP. Other 5 modules were OK. The MCP didn't show in GF cfg either. Unplugged the MCP, rebooted and plugged it back in. OK now. May be unrelated.Everything else seems to work OK

Right? As far as ATI is concerned there is no proof that every ATI using has never encountered this problem. They all don't belong to the FSX forums do they?If they cared enough ACES and nVidia could easily work out the problem.Anyway, are you saying that you use the sim without using the menu?
