June 3, 200818 yr I have been using tweakguides and his tweaking companion for a long time now, it doesn't do anything for me with regards to d3d9.dll crashes of fsx.I have 0 issues with anything else and I strain my system daily with 3d modelling, photoshop and in the past couple of weeks finished both crysis and assassin's creed on it.the system has been thoroughly checked, registry cleaned, memory sticks tested for 24 hours with memtest the works. There are no background programs running when I start fsx.mem usage is 194 mb out of 6 gig total of which 3 physical before I start fsx.memory usage during my last crash around 700mb.fsx is clean with no addons whatsoeverdriversdirectx.net 2visual c 2005 all up to date
June 3, 200818 yr with the mentality of the developers regarding these issues I wont spend a penny on any product they produce again. There are too many developers who do seem able to address issues and provide support and they are able to it without a behemoth like microsoft. Why shoul I pay for another flight simulator product just to get this lack of interest from the developer again, next time my money is going to someone else, if that means not flying anymore, fine, I dont get much flying done with fsx as it is anyway.I think its a shame to the flight simulator legacy.

June 3, 200818 yr glad it helped you, it but here as soon as I went e.g. to instant replay d3d9.dllI was presentlysurprise by the performance of my 7600gt with these settings though lol. landed the ultralight (default opening screen flight) with quite a smooth framerate. then tested menu for error and sure enough there it was.still im glad it helped you.
June 3, 200818 yr Are you 100% sure it's just a "friendly question"? Why reopening a discussion closed in January instead of opening a new thread? Why do you have to justify yourself about the tone of you message?:--)Google your d3d9.dll issue and you'll find hunderds of answers and none is FSX related.Update DirectX or download this file from here:http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3d9 - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
June 3, 200818 yr What I was told many, many, many threads ago, the reason for the menu freezes is that with FSX SP2/Acceleration + nVidia drivers, you need to go into your nVidia control panel. In there, both Global settings and Program settings in the 3D settings page must be an exact match.I tried many different drivers, suggestions, etc, and nothing fixed menu freezes. I made sure, as suggested by others, that the Global/Program settings were an exact match. Well, that was the end of the menu freezes. I can't remember the last CTD I've had neither.Having said that, I don't think every setting has to be matched up exactly. But since know one knows which mismatched setting it is, or which combination of mismatched settings it is, to be safe, all settings then need to be the same.Speaking about CTD's. I've noticed many are over-clocking their computers these days. Smart move. Best thing to do. But of those same, and many inexperienced ones, or those ones that listen to THEIR inexperienced pals, are also some of those that have CTD problems. Many overclockers make the mistake of just barely giving enough cpu(vcore) voltage all in the name of keeping the heat issues in check. Hey, the computer boots up and works in the windows environment, then thats enough right? Wrong. Not to pick on rookies but often that mistake/oversight is made. In the gaming environment, you need more. Not just the bare minimum that gives general stability in Windows. Put simply, not enough vcore, this will definitely cause an CTD. Notch up the vcore a bit and probably your CTDs will be a thing of the past. To be sure, follow both suggestions.Q6600 oc'd to 3.6ghz9800GX2 vid card oc'd to 700/1750nVidia driver 175.70 from guru3d.com (http://downloads.guru3d.com)4 gigs of cheap ramXP Pro 32 SP3FSX Deluxe + AccelerationGEX-CanActiveSky X SP3
June 4, 200818 yr Bill, I have had two different NVida cards with the "crappy NVidia drivers" and SP2 has worked well with no menu freezes or other significant problems with both. I agree though that the problem does not seem to be isolated to SP2. Regards,Thrakete
June 4, 200818 yr 1 - a new topic about the old problem would have provoked the other type of complaint, why did you open a new thread instead of use one of the countless ones available about it.2 - because textual information on forums and chat is often not perceived correctly as for tone, which is lacking online but is o so important to the actual meaning and to decide if something is meant friendly, inquistively compaining or even hostile. (if you have kids youknow very well how important tone is in vocal communication. kids can change something normal or even pleasant into something that drains the blood from under your nails just by tone alone)3 - If my post is friendly? see 2 and see the last sentence of my post.Yes I'm sure that one is friendly, but for people who ask if I was friendly when I say I was (double info, repeat info etc) i'm not very immune to though :( ;)4 january 2008, not like january 2007, on most forums I come this would not be concidered opening a too old post, second there is no reason to leave it closed and stop discussing it, it hasn't been solved, I dont know about you, but Im rarely the giving up type especially after shelling out 300 euros on flight sim last week. Thats why i said any perceived (note the word perceived) tone would be down to general frustration and atmosphere and nothing personal, no right minded person expects me to talk about this with a faux smile on my face. Do you generally smile when you buy something which does not work as advertised? or at all even, knowing it's not your system. Its not like i don't know computers, not meant to brag just stating fact, been building them, tweaking them and fixing them for 15 years now (im only 26 now) I even worked as a "microsoft support engineer" for a while.5 you could have tried to simply make sense out of my symptoms and reply about that instead of replying to me more about me and my post itself in a public forum, that should be done privately on any forum imho. keep the junk (like this offtopic reply) out of the threads sort to speak.->kind:P ) regards,Luggage
June 4, 200818 yr >>5 you could have tried to simply make sense out of my symptoms>and reply about that instead of replying to me more about me>and my post itself in a public forum, that should be done>privately on any forum imho. keep the junk (like this offtopic>reply) out of the threads sort to speak.>>->kind:P ) regards,>Luggagehuh? what was all of that about? :)You have a hardware issue (actually probably multiple issues) specific to your system. As such, you really could have started a new thread in the hardware forum about it and lots of people would be glad to assist you.Regarding your hardware/software setup...you have a marginal FSX system. Point blank, no ruffles and sugar, that's what needs to be said to you. You can choose to disagree, but that doesn't alter the cold hard reality.Mem: Having 3 gb of memory, you are not running your memory in matched pairs. This is a well-known detriment to performance *and* stability, particularly in an app like FSX. Your other apps may do fine but they are not as resource-intensive as FSX.Graphics: The 7600 graphics card is in all honesty very marginal for FSX.CPU: A 4200+ is not going to give you the greatest experience in FSX. Finally, you mention that you run lots of other apps with zero issues on your hardware. Sure your other big apps like 3DSMax etc. do fine with it, but FSX is far, far more resource intensive than any of those apps and that includes Crysis.I hope you are not implying that there is some "need" to "fix" FSX, because there is not. (your resurrecting this thread makes one wonder if you do think there is such a need). It is a logical leap to posit that hardware issues on one's machine somehow equate to a program that needs fixing, when 1000's of users use it every day with no issues. I mean that in the nicest tone possible. :) I am trying to help you, so don't take it the wrong way.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
