Hi Guys,

Flight Sim Studio (FSS) has just released their Oil Spill Response version of their B727F-200 and it's free to current owners of the aircraft.

As part of this V1.0.6 update, there are also two special missions:

#1 - Oil Spill Response 727 | completely recreated cabin and functional dispense system.
#2 - Zero G | re-arranged cabin to reflect the space needed for experiments and tests.

With this latest update FSS has produced  6 updates and 3 patches since its August 2024 release. So they are working very hard to get this bird in fine shape while being very responsive to bug feedback from users on Discord.

Mission details and profiles are in the B727 Documentation Hub

https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/boeing-727/special-features/oil-spill-response? (just paste into your browser).

Oh, and I hear that a certain A320 has just received 'sharklets' (apparently cause for some considerable celebration especially since it has only taken some two plus years since release). Meanwhile, the FSS B727F-200 came in variants with and without winglets on day 1 of release. Just saying! 🤣 (sorry, couldn't help myself. All in fun!) As is the special mission in the YT link below.

Cheers

Terry

Thanks for the heads-up, Terry.

Just wasted another hour of my life wrestling with Aerosoft One trying to get this update but may finally be getting there! The difference in quality between some of these vendor packages is incredible. IniManager won't accept orders from me (have to actually buy via website) and Aerosoft One is just totally cr*p generally. Surprisingly, some of the ones I'd be most suspicious about are actually excellent - SImMarket's app is great, never a problem. Why FSS insist on selling via Aerosoft is a mystery. And don't get me started about Discord! Bah, grumble, grumble.

I see the mission here is based out of EGMC! Sarfend is my spiritual home (and my actual home in my teens) so I shall have a go at this if I ever get the thing re-instralled successfully.

(oh, and on a sort of related issue, I just found the UKMIL Blackburn Buccaneer is back! It's here if you're a fan - https://flightsim.to/file/79236/ukmil-blackburn-buccaneer-s2-package-for-fsx-and-p3d-conversion)

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case.

I found they screwed up this iconic bird. I reported all the bugs I found, on their Discord. Among them I can't start the APU, if I choose to start with APU running once I start the first engine it's a total mess with the pneu system and I can't start the others engines. I tried this patch but the "bug" of the APU start is still here. Icing on the cake, they didn't answered my ticket, yes I was polite, and finally they removed it. When we see the highest quality freeware like as you know the A380 you can feel very disappointed so now FSS is a big NO whatever patch they can do in the future.

I parked it after two WASM crashes... people complaining about WASM crashes all over the place.

This dev does too much fiddling while releasing rushed products. Bad enough taste in my mouth from the EJets - buying this one, I'm afraid, was a mistake in my opinion. I regret my purchase.

Talking about E-jet last time my impression was VNAV will be available by now. However, with only week to go until MSFS2024 release I don't know what is a point to wait something from FSS LOL

Yeah I hadn’t flown the 727 in while so I gave it a go the other night and had some bizarre issues.  The APU seemed to be on in that turning it off cut off power to the aircraft, but there was a APU warning light illuminated and no APU sound.  Engines wouldn’t start…I had to use ctrl E which started the engines, but then the thrust levers wouldn’t move,  Gave up at that point.

Hi Guys,

Interesting comments. Lots of us don't have these problems. You must uninstall the complete aircraft before uploading the new version/update, otherwise WASM and other issues will almost certainly crop up. Having said that, it's not perfect by a long shot but the price compensates for that. A bit hard to compare it to the FBW 380 or any payware aircraft to the FBW 380 really. If FBW had a B727 I'd certainly get it, but they don't.

Andy. Yes, I've issues with Aerosoft One as well. I went to Contrail. It automatically see your aircraft and you can register it with Contrail and updates (including uninstalls) are a breeze.

Cheers

In Contrail, it shows as uninstalling then installing the new version when it updates.  Is there another step you're taking?

Of course everytimes I , first, uninstall the plane with the Aerosoft One, check if there are no remaining files and install the new one. But always the same bugs remain. Fortunately I still have my XP11 install, mainly for the FJS 727!

In my case doesn't change anything!

With regards to the APU not starting.  Did you test the fire alarm, twice? I know that doesn't always work either but I have found if you attempt a start while the bell is still ringing, the APU starts fine.

I have had data connection issues from time to time, (that's a MS server issue, not the FSS model bug), and that always messes things up in the 727. So, when that happens, I f I get a data connection back,  I just restart the flight, if I'm not too far along it.

If I change the nav system, I always back out and start the flight again with the newly selected system, just to ensure everything is reset correctly.

I sense the FSS programming may not account that well for some changes that occur from time to time and think they have a bit of regression in their updates which doesn't help, although a patch usually follows quite closely behind.

Not sure what else might be happening with your system?
