I saw someone mention this on this on discord and then of the Xplane announcement page. My reaction was "no they didn't, wow MisterX is part of the Xplane team lol" 😊 This indeed good news. I hope he will have some time to upgrade LAX as plan or get the finish it before moving on. Or maybe he gets to do all of them who knows. But I am glad he is on the LR team, well deserve for such a talented young man who is a self made institution in the X Plane scenery community.

Good News!

I confess I never used any of his creations in my X-Plane 11 or 12 installs, but I watched vids and screenshots that looked amazing!

Nice to know he's now part of the LR Team.

Not long ago another very talented developer had joined, the one who created an excellent mod for clouds and lighting...

I think LR needs someone for the flight dynamics, to start working with Austin, gaining and offering momentum for the development of the flight dynamics engine, and helping him to get new important features in while  ironing out some bugs and limitations.

I think Twkster who happens to spend a lot of his time doing modeling updates to the Zibo flight dynamics might be a good assistant with Austin when it comes to jet aircraft specifically Boeings. But I don't know who knows that sim as much as Austin who is pretty much doing all of those "getting those important feature" in a way he knows how. He would have to find and hire another Austin like himself 😅  But to help with the workload, yeah but the talent has to be there too.

Excellent news!

Improving the default autogen would be another great step forward. Welcome Justin Kissling

That's 1 airport out 40K+. That would be a waste of man-hours. What needs fixing is the generic autogen.

That one airport is the latest that Justin is currently working on now which will not be a waste. He still has his business and can still support it, it just won't be full time. Generic autogen is a totally different function that is a long term goal for LR while he is being brought in as part of that team and where he will not be alone in that process.

Justin was evaluating doing something similar to Simheaven to use real world data (MS Bing footprint) and generate the scenery dynamically for something like SFD Global v2.0 .  This is a tall order for one person but now he has a whole team to support him!

Here is an update on the status for the LAX v2

From the .org post with the question and responds from MisterX in bold:

Now, that you been working for Laminar, are still going to release LAX V2 this year @MisterX6

That is the plan. The scenery is basically finished, now all that's left is final testing and packaging. "

I couldn't care less about LAX, even though I live nearby. I just want to know how he is going to improve XP12 scenery!

Well he is not going to do it own? He just got hired there to support their team, not take over the company.

Of course his contribution will factor into their plans on how they are going into making the improvements for the new graphic system. It does not mean he will stop walking and chew gum at the same time.

He manage to have found a way to still support his own work after hours or on days he not doing things for LR. Something to help keep him sharp, because what he may be doing for LR may be a fraction of what he does own his own. You don't get to pick and choose when you are working for someone else. LR determines what skills sets are needed from him to support their overall projection and we don't know what's was agreed to in his contract.

But whatever is in there may allow him that leeway to continue his project. Because that also helps his bottom line and LR by keeping users interest up and not making them wait for some wholesale improvement of the entire graphic system that may take months to a year to complete, just to get a specific scenery that folks were looking forward to from that release.

My guess is that he will help incorporate how to improve how the assets are distributed from region to region, something that has been needed in the sim, we will have wait to see.

Until then, we can still look forward to his upcoming release of LAXv2.

Probably facades and airport buildings and autogen. Could be that Laminar is going to ramp up the generic object veriety for their next iteration of the global scenery.
