How do I install to PC not Xbox console

Featured Replies

I prepaid pre-order on the 10th Nov, receipt issued. Now on the 19th when I try to download, I'm directed to an Xbox or PC install, I choose PC, another window opens telling me my Xbox App is out of date and directed to the updates page of my MS account. I've updated anything that says Xbox but am still advised that the App is outdated, I'm stuck in an endless loop for Xbox App update - for a PC Install.

Never had this problem back in 2020 when installing then.

Isn't the release supposed to happen at 16:00 UT today, or so I read in a few threads on different forums?

I'm in Australia and it's 0445 UTC on the 19th at the moment, I'll let it settle for another 24 hours, still, I've never had access to the download link prior to this which is causing the problem in my post.

I'm pretty sure it is not being released for another 11 hours and everyone gets it at the same time. It will be the 20th for some people.

No, I'll try that now - but why an Xbox App for a PC install?

Thanks everyone for your help, the Xbox App updated upon restart and the 2024 placeholder folder was installed ready for download from tomorrow (20th) my time.

I think it's because all Microsoft games come under the Xbox branding umbrella regardless of us having a pc or Xbox console which is different.

Be sure your xbox app that holds 2024 has the same gamer tag as ms2020 if you want to use all the stuff you bought in marketplace. Otherwise you lose it all. Open msfs2020 and look at the top right for your old gamer tag next to your avatar.
