Custom Camera's in MSFS 2024

In 2020, custom views are bonded to one aircraft. They are saved in “cameras.cfg” in the aircraft package folder. If you change to a different aircraft, you have to create a new set of custom views for that aircraft. I assume 2024 works in a similar way? The difference is that 2024 saves control settings in a “profile”. You can make a profile apply to all aircraft - but I don’t think that would be appropriate for camera views. Custom camera views for a C172 certainly wouldn’t work correctly in an A320….

Yup, each saved set of camera views is aircraft specific.  There must be a glitch where you have to exit the sim and re-enter if you want to set up views on another aircraft..  I have done 6 or 7 now and they all save perfectly fine.

Thanks @JRBarrett

That's a good one. I'm sure I did that without understanding what I was doing was bad 🙂

I just created a new keyboard profile from scratch by deleting all the settings. I setup the custom camera save and customer camera load again and it seems ok ... let's see if it continues to work properly now. For sure, the new sim requires a commitment to go through and setup all controls again.

Did you delete each and every keyboard setting manually - that will take a lot of time. Or is there a menu item to delete everything in one go?

Jim, are you talking about the "Keyboard presets config" settings to not have those checked? I did have them checked so I created a duplicate set and made sure they were unchecked. That still did not work - it seems that the only plane in my hanger that consistently saves these settings is the Vision Jet.  Very perplexing ....

no problems here with custom cameras so far

To be honest for me either. For instance the jorgs used a330-300 intrument views in a330-200. So we have all instrument views outside of the cockpit in -200 simply because it's shorter than -300. I was able to appoint 10 custom cameras to different instruments I need as well as a couple for cabin views. Everything is working perfect. I have to add "at the moment" of course!

Roland, if you click on the gear icon to the right of your preset config, there is an option to "clear" the settings. This should delete all you current assignments so that you can easily start from scratch, but tbh ... Jim's idea of not checking the "Apply to all aircraft" or "Set as default" still didn't solve the problem for me. BTW, I'm running on a PC and not Xbox.

There's something weird going on. It seems that if I exit the sim after setting some custom views they don't carry over to another aircraft; exiting to main menu isn't sufficient.

Guess I'll not be using custom views.

I see where you are coming from, but if you made an adjustment to 1 view point on 1 aircraft will that change replicate to all you aircraft or just the intended one ?

It seems they save for each specific aircraft from what I can tell so far.  When I load in another aircraft, the view is set as I had saved it.  Seems to work just like 2020 for me so far...
