Custom Camera's in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Has anyone had luck in setting up and saving custom camera views in MSFS 2024? They don't seem to save properly, it also seems to be intermittent, sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Jeez, for gawd’s sake, not again! We had this nonsense with 2020. In fact, I still experience issues when saving customised views in some aircraft. Moving to a customised position, saving it, then when I reload the view, it’s in a slightly different position! How long has Asobo had to sort out such a simple, intrinsic aspect of the sim?

I just created a new keyboard profile from scratch by deleting all the settings. I setup the custom camera save and customer camera load again and it seems ok ... let's see if it continues to work properly now. For sure, the new sim requires a commitment to go through and setup all controls again.

After you bind new keys for saving and loading custom cameras, restart the sim. This worked for me!

Seems to be FUBAR ... I cannot consistently set up cameras. I had a good flight with the C172 with stable cameras but when I loaded it again for a different flight the camera's were all bonkers again. Will all get sorted out in due time. I'm patient ... and good news is that msfs2020 is in an awesome place right now.

Same here. Was not working at first but now AFTER RESTARTING everything is working just fine.

Yes it’s broken.  I’ve played with it for a few hours.  I’ve had some success deleting the cameras.cfg file for the particular aircraft (not the general file) but it doesn’t always work.  Switching between aircraft often breaks it.

Some 2020 aircraft seem to have imported the custom views from the aircraft on the old sim BUT WITH A DIFFERENT BASE EYEPOINT.  However since the aircraft is streamed that data is not saved on the pc.

If I knew how to raise a ticket I would.

Yeah, another bug for sure.

I can get the cameras to set but the zoom amount in all the saved cameras change by themselves to zoomed out fully.

Switching to Next camera also does not work much of the time.

The first set of custom views I set up (H125) works perfectly. Everything after that puts me way out in front of the saved position. 😑

no problems here with custom cameras so far

What keys/commands did you use to set them up and return to your saved positions?

* Can't edit my previous post but some of my H125 custom views are broken today. Insert emoji of someone scratching their head here.

Yeah, I was able to get cameras set up in the C-172 but when I went to the CJ4 for the first time, I was located in the fuselage and could not get myself into the cockpit.  Seems like the views from the 172 were carrying over.  I gave up but will try again today to get cameras set on a second aircraft and see if they hold...

Was looking for a thread to explain why custom view don't seem to be working. And I found it!

My experience is/was that initially they worked, until I tried custom views on a second aircraft. Now, none work.

It seems there's a compounding effect with each subsequent aircraft multiplying the custom camera view. For example, 1st aircraft set view for overhead panel. Fine. Next aircraft the overhead panel view is assigned even though I didn't assign one and to boot, the view is outside the aircraft but in the general same direction. Now, nothing works and I've finally reached my limit. If I can't get views to work, then I can't hang with this nonsense.

Even the custom views, which are generally part of any given aircraft, don't work and put you into who knows where. Life's too short for this kind of frustration.

In 2020, custom views are bonded to one aircraft. They are saved in “cameras.cfg” in the aircraft package folder. If you change to a different aircraft, you have to create a new set of custom views for that aircraft. I assume 2024 works in a similar way? The difference is that 2024 saves control settings in a “profile”. You can make a profile apply to all aircraft - but I don’t think that would be appropriate for camera views. Custom camera views for a C172 certainly wouldn’t work correctly in an A320….

If you create a custom view set, be sure that boxes marked “make default” and “apply to all aircraft” are not checked before you save the view set.
