Raindrops...

To me it seems like rain effects took a step backwards as opposed to a leap forward.  This whole 2024 seems like it could have been DLC for FS2020 rather than a new game.  Oh well.

The rain effects in 2020 were already very poor, you can compare that with some of the racing Sims to see how it's really done.

I'm sure in those fours years Asobo have massively updated the effects and made significant improvements.

Just like the ATC and aircraft AI.

Ah ha, brilliant Dave. it sounds like it was a straightforward process. Let's hope PMDG can also impelement it in their line of planes. Many thanks.

I don’t understand why default planes didn’t implement it. Only Fenix so far. Seems like a rushed sim to get it out quick or maybe a bug? But all default planes don’t work

Yeah, my thoughts also.

Fenix wipers are working in 2024 but default planes do not. Either a bug or rushed sim that didn’t implement default planes using the new wiper technology

I'm not sure that one should jump to that conclusion. The same situation for doors and cabins existed in 2020. Most default planes did not have opening doors or walkable cabins. But clearly the feature could be implemented, which it was with 2020 pay ware planes. Just because a feature is not implemented in default planes in 2024 does not necessarily mean that we can conclude that default planes are bugged or rushed.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

There seems to be a bug for me, not with the Fenix but with MSFS24.  If you have the windshield rain effect set on medium you can hardly see the effect unless you zoom right into the glass, but when trying to set the effect to high in the graphics menu it auto reverts back to medium.  I cant get it to stay on the high setting no matter what I try.

u need to change Windshield quality to 2 in the UserCfg.opt, as theres a bug in the game menu settings

They don’t work in the real plane either, so unexpected realism?

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I’m saying windshield wipers on turboprops are generally garbage lol.  The Saab wipers aren’t great and the ATR is worse.

I doubt Asobo was trying to imitate that on purpose, I doubt anyone of their developers has ever flown a Saab 340, let alone Carenado who developed this for Microsoft. 😄
