Harvey to Orcas (2024)

Featured Replies

Alright, finally I'm settled in to MSFS 2024.  I've got a few of my favorite addon aircraft that seem to work well.  I've dropped a few 2020 sceneries into my Community folder for the PNW, such as the ones pictured here, S43 Harvey and the famous KORS Orcas Island.  Please enjoy this lovely flight (mostly direct) - I've changed no colors or settings on the photos like I used to do with 2020.  2024 is looking really quite amazing with the new environmental upgrades.

Liftoff from S43!  It's fairly short but the runway is no issue for the DA42

A fairly quick flight, just under 30 min at 150 knots or so - COWS has just updated their DA42 TDI/VI for 2024 compatibility - it's an excellent rendition of the twin diamond!  They're also working on a DA40XLS!

Widening out to avoid terrain and setup for final to runway 34.  It's hard to see but antennas are now native to 2024 - a wonderful VFR feature

Nice shots. I used to live in Oak Harbor dad was a Marine stationed at Whidbey Island NAS. We almost moved to Adak Alaska after that.

Hi Ryan,

Very nice shots. Tell me - how do you manage to get crisp and bright cockpit displays without the exteriors looking totally washed out? If I adjust my desktop colours or apply reshade to get the interior looking vaguely readable, the outside world looks grossly over-exposed, over bloomed and every cloud a white-out, not to mention the sun which is a huge mess of blinding light. Any tips? (I do not have an HDR monitor).

Best Regards

Hi Robert!  I haven't done anything.  But the sun is on the panel in most of the shots.  I think the cockpits are still a bit dark on an average day.

Thanks. Well I'm stumped. The MFDs and PFDs are incredibly dim on my monitor. If I turn up the brightness and gamma they are still not that bright but then the exteriors become almost pure white/washed out.

And you got the new 2024 compatibility version from cows?  This is the DA42 from COWS.

To me, the FS2024 textures look darker but are a little sharper.

Great pictures btw.

Robert

I find with the B737 Business Jet that in daylight the MFD & PFD's are spot on, but at night, with night lighting in the cockpit, they are completely washed out. Have not yet found where I can adjust their brightness, [turn it down].

Beautiful series, Ryan, from your short trip in the PNW....

Nice that you're now settling into MSFS2024 after some ground prep-work in the SIM...🙂....
