Win 11 24H2 w/ 7800X3D: audio cutouts in 2020 ensued...

Thanks all I will try disabling Couatl after TO and see.  I did another round of uninstalling the current Realtek driver off of MSI's website, then rebooted and Win 11 installs the prior driver from Realtek.  I uninstalled that, then just used the same RT executable driver installer and reset some audio settings to less demanding (DVD quality output) so will see if that first fixed things, then if not will try the Couatl kill in flight and see could be you never know.  These cutouts cause bad stutters, captured on CapFrameX.

In my case yes and the other culprit I found were when the airports themselves had sounds.  For example, DD KEWR's terminal sounds were actually causing my PMDG cockpit sounds to cut out, especially the speed call outs...

Disabling the sound files in the scenery resolved the issue.

Was this when you were at those airports, or just in general?

Shoot, no luck.  Tried killing Couatl but no joy there either.  I've decided to try rolling back to 23H2 then preventing Update from reinstalling it which I just learned how to do.  Something tells me this isn't going to work!  But I have to try it anyway wish me luck!!!!!!!

No unfortunately I waited too long and no way to roll back.  It's really random one flight is perfect and another can be quite bad with these cutouts.  Happy Happy to you as well Fuzzy!

Noel,

Have you tried using the Nvidia sound circuitry on the 4090? I have done this for my last 3 builds as I got fed up with Realtek a few years back.

No I haven't and not sure how to do that.  I tell you it is a serious mystery because for example right now in this flight from KSMF>KLGB not a single cutout and were well into descent.

FYI I can tell you I was experiencing audio cutouts, glitches ,etc., and was advised to uninstall the Nvidia HD audio driver. I did so and the audio problems ceased. Unfortunately either Windows or Nvidia sees this and reinstalls it; when I fire up the SIM and hear the audio glitches again I dutifully remove it (again). I am now trying disabling the driver instead and will see if that permanently fixes the issue or not until such time that Nvidia fixes the HD audio driver problems with FS. Might be worth a try on your end as well.

Thanks Ken that was something I did previously a couple of times but I guess failed to recognize it reinstalls on reboot.  There is a setting you can change under I think group policy to stop the auto driver install but alas I have Win 11 Home which does not offer group policy edit.  I reboot between every flight.  But again, there is such a randomness to this it's spurious to conclude an intervention made the difference.  Last flight...not a single cutout.  I will try making a habit of uninstalling the NV HD driver immediately after boot and see if it then becomes a consistent remedy.

Ok for this flight just rebooted, uninstalled (from Dev Mgr) the NV HD audio driver.  Then went to Installed Apps and uninstalled the driver there so should not reinstall itself.

Hi guys,

To disable automatic install of hardware manufacturer programs try this:

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > de ices > more devices and printer settings

In the devices and printer window right click on your Pc icon and select device installation settings

Turn off "Do you want to automatically download manufacturers apps and customs icons available for your devices" in Device Installation Settings and save.

This will not interfere with Windows updates.

Download my repaints at AVSIM.

Well as with every other intervention done so far, no luck with a deleted NV HD driver such that it is never reinstalled.  Last two flight lots of cutouts again.  3 or 4 prior--very rare to no cutouts.  It's really not just audio cutouts is really the entire MSFS stops very briefly along with audio.  This differs from garden variety stutters once again because of the audio element.  Maybe something is wrong w/ the RTX4090 but nothing like this happens in two other titles I use, so it seems specific to MSFS.  And again, it started immediately after 24H2 at least that is my best recollection.

I keep finding the HD driver re-installed and I have tried just disabling it as well. I've followed Sylle's advice above and just checked the driver after removing it yet again earlier today. It hasn't reappeared so we'll see what happens.

Like you (and probably lots of others) hope this gets sorted soon either by Nvidia or MS/Asobo, but as I don't need the HD audio driver I'll be careful to make sure it doesn't get installed with any Nvidia driver update I do in the future.

Ken

Let's not break our heads guys... most probably one of the many FS2024 issues. I don't have this problem with any other game and I don't even use the integrated sound card, but the DAC of my Bose Companion 5.

There is another thread here:

As mentioned in my post you need go to Installed Apps and delete the driver in which case it will not be reinstalled because....it's gone.  You'll see it as a separate entry under NV installed apps.
