MSFS2024_AutoFPS for MSFS 2024

The application works, as the effect of changing the targets can clearly be noticed.

However, there must’ve been changes in MSFS24 compared to 20 how the TLOD values reflect in the terrain silhouette and texture at distance. In 20, the TLOD target of 600 resulted in perfectly resolved and sharply textured mountains all the way to horizon, in cruise, while in the 24 version the silhouette doesn’t change and the terrain soon becomes smothered, especially when zoomed, even at the max target of 990.

Does anyone have a different experience, and would you mind sharing the settings?

I am very glad to hear that the app works. I believe that ground texture resolution is connected to tlod in 2024 and in 2020 it wasn't or was to a smaller degree. Perhaps there is some kind of hidden setting that is responsible for ground texture resolution that we can connect autoFPS to. That's worth investigating.

Very similar experience. I was also hoping a much higher LOD of 600 would solve my blurry ground textures, which I initially thought it did, but must have been a coincidence (did get clearer textures also without any TLOD tweaking for a while but was back to blurry mess yesterday).

Best regards,

Have you tried to start the app and the sim in admin mode?

I was about to report that the app appears to not be working on my system.  It is showing as connected but no sim values coming up.  Will leave it running for awhile to see if they eventually populate.

Did you get it to work?

I am afraid that's a limitation of MSFS24. Textures and terrain details rendered beyond the threshold specified by the TLOD value suffer from significantly lower resolution than in MSFS20, regardless of graphics settings/bandwidth. This can easily be seen, for example, by looking down from >10,000' and comparing the ground textures with MSFS20. Whether this is a feature or a server problem remains to be seen. I think it's the former.

Try to close the app with task manager and reopen. This is another issue

Another solution is to click (select) the app in the taskbar then Alt+Space then select Move (or hit M) then hit left/right arrow on keyboard then use mouse, the app will reappear at the tip of your mouse cursor 😄

Thank you, @kayjay1c6b, for making this compatible with MSFS24! I think I’ve got it working, but I’m a bit confused about whether it’s detected that I’m using FG.

It says ‘Target FG Active’ but then shows ‘FG Inactive’ below

I will have look into this but now I am focused on that so the app works at all for everyone or at least for most of users. But the latest version is promising:)

If it's the same as with my app, FG is only active when the MSFS screen has the focus. It looks like in your screenshot that AutoFPS has the focus, hence FG inactive. If so, this is correct FG detection behaviour. If you click on the MSFS screen with the app using the on top option like you are, the status should change to FG active.

I am so glad I only paid $129 for the "feature" that delivers horrible visuals at altitude.

I am pretty sure it is not server related.  Just had the experience you describe.  Simultaneously OOKLA Speed Test shows I am on a 900Mb/sec fiber connection.  Resource Monitor was simultaneously showing very little network activity for MSFS 2024 and all it's associated threads.  I was flying 325 kt IAS at 10',000' over San Diego County with TLOD at 200.    Tried the same flight, same aircraft, same location in MSFS 2020 and the ground was crisp and clear as far as I could see.

In both scenarios the GPU was at 100% and my frame rate was 25 (50 with framegen) DLSS/Balanced

Quick question: As we with Reset XPDR are trying to think of solution that will make his and mine apps work consistently on different platforms do you guys have steam or Ms store version of the sim? Please write store and if it works. This will help us greatly.
