December 4, 20241 yr First run in the Fenix, gate to gate. Went very well I thought. Amazing FPS, no crashes, stutters or hangs. All the wooshing around is not necessary. Let's take an already graphic-intense simulation and fire the user all over the place rapidly. Just ends up one giant lag. Just like 2020, I think you have to spend time with this one and lower yourself in slowly. Once you iron out all your inexplicable differences in the controls (eg view settings, mouselook, drone controls etc, Landing gear is not "G" etc etc) and fix all that it starts to feel really nice. Throttle and Stick hardware just needs re-calibrating to stop some random weirdness. AI is shocking. I think it's even worse out of the box than 2020 was. Planes going everywhere like a circus. Not sure to try FSLTL or need to look into what is compatible and what is not. Definitely a keeper. The first time I loaded MSFS2024, I saw a Cessna taxiing out and thought, "wow!". Never saw that in MSFS2020. Maybe my '20 isn't set up right, I don't know. December 4, 20241 yr I have done 3 flights now in the Fenix and I do have to agree. I think I have my settings where they need to be so I get 30fps locked from gate to gate using the Dynamic performance option.. I went back and did a flight in 2020 to compare and performance and smoothness much better in 2024, not to mention the visuals are MUCH better (color tone, atmospheric lighting, etc). I am using PSXT which works well in 2024. If they can fix the night lighting issues (sepia mask, super bright airport lights and broken aircraft lights) I will be pretty happy! December 4, 20241 yr I don’t know how you do it better? I have a 7800 x3D and a 4070S and it’s much worse than in 2020. I'm really waiting, I have to pick up a new monitor with G-sync tomorrow. Maybe I'll get better too
December 4, 20241 yr My first flight with the Fenix was not good. The aircraft behaved correctly, but man this sim... I had performed the same flight a few hours earlier in MSFS so i could compare both. The start of the flight was just sad, out of the plane, lots of time for the plane to initialize, etc etc. All those MSFS2024 things i'd rather not have but whatever. Then onto the cockpit and let's go. When at level (36000ft in this flight) most of the scenery detail is gone, i mean the sim objects are probably removed, making the same flight in MSFS look better. Weather was similar-ish but i seem to like the depiction better in MSFS, the clouds just look better to me. The environment looks MUCH better in MSFS mostly because GAMMA is all over the place in MSFS2024 and this makes the scenery look quite bland at times. It will get fixed eventually, i hope. There were intermittent sound cuts, i couldn't point the cause but this never happened in MSFS and now with MSFS2024 it does. Approaching EDDT which was the destination airport, i witnessed amazing detail on ground, much better than with MSFS but i also noticed some accentuated stuttering. Smoothness is about the same in both sims otherwise, i get around 140fps while cruising and even on ground they're pretty similar (except this EDDT situation), i don't know why the stuttering in MSFS2024 there, maybe compatibility stuff with this quite old EDDT from GAYA as it doesn't happen at all with MSFS. Right now, for me, unusable as i have a much better platform to use, but with some (lots of) work i guess it will probably get there. Give us the option to start in the cockpit. 11 minutes ago, ryanbatc said: Don't be positive about your experience, you're obviously lying! /s My VFR experience is great. When i try something with heavy metal and all parts involved (IVAO, ACARS, major airports, extended planning, etc etc) things take a deep dive. Needs time and patience.
