Anyone elses PimaxXR or OpenXR Toolkit stopped working?

Featured Replies

Let some Win 11 updates install earlier in the week, now neither of the above tools work any more - anyone else had the same?

Just flew the updated 2024 last night, haven't got any problems with Pimax app. I use PimaxXR, but don't use OpenXR toolkit though.

Are you using 'PimaxXR' (the opensource one from GitHub), or the one that comes pre-bundled with pimax play?

The one inside Pimax play. I didn't download anything else.

I bought the OVR (?) Toolkit app inside PImax store in order to view my desktop in VR, but it requires me to install SteamVR, to my dismay.

Ah, no that's a different one. I'm referring to OpenXR Toolkit. That and the PimaxXR tool are made by the same person, and it seems something about the recent windows update broke it.

I just got a large W11 update yesterday. OpenXR and Steam VR (I still optionally use SteamVR at times, though OpenXR also works okay on it's own for my setup) are both working fine here today. Note that I'm a Pico 4 user though, not a Pimax CL user.

maybe try re ordering the open xr api layers? There are a couple of free tools for re ordering and enable/disabling them.

I did the Windows11 update (still 23H one) yesterday and used the PimaxXR app with the Crystal Light last night fine.  That said, for different reasons, I also used SteamVR with the same two pieces of software and did have issues with that.  Might not be related, though.

Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset

I'm off to test right now. Will take a few minutes.

Pimax Play v1.35.02.01 is the latest version which I think came out yesterday.

To remove the Windows 11 update Hold down shift key and restart windows. Should boot into help instead of into windows. One of the menu items will allow removing the last windows update.

Quality updates: The small incremental updates you can remove the last one in that menu.

Features updates: Annual update don't remove that

I tested  , pimax cystal light working fine in 2024.

I installed Pimax Play v1.35.02.01 just before the test. also Windows 11 update just before the test: Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5048667)

So it's all working fine.

Pimax OpenXR runtime is the XR runtime being used according to device settings , general, in Pimax play.

Also the OpenXR toolkit is working too. I reset the hotkeys to the 4 arrow keys in OXR toolkit for navigating the menu and turning toolkit displays on and off. Easier to remember.

But PCL and OXR toolkit working fine here.
