So most of us will have to use the regular Home or Pro versions. Since I've never seen any advertisements in my Windows versions (most of them Pro or Education). Most of the bloatware people complain about come with factory installed Windows for complete PC's but since I always build my own I don't have that issue. For the OP, after all you have tried it is likely there are still some dependancies missing, but it is difficult to find out which ones. You didn't write if you have the Steam or Store version of MSFS2020. I assume it's the Store version. Perhaps the Steam version doesn't have rely on MS store/Xbox so much and might work, but it is a gamble. I have Steam version of MSFS. But as I understand it still needs Store + Xbox app to work. I'm pretty sure at this point that the issue is the Store. I can't seem to get it working. Tried to install it with wsreset -i command, also with this installer, but no matter what I do, I still get "check your connection" error: And therefore I can't install Xbox app and all it's dependencies, which is probably why MSFS won't run. I definitely don't have anything blocking the Store, no VPN, no antivirus, no firewall (I did try to disable Windows antivirus and firewall, didn't help). I tried writing to Microsoft Support about this issue, but they have AI chatbot answering emails and it couldn't help. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? I really don't want to reinstall my OS... Besides, it's just 2 weeks old, so basically fresh install, - in all likelihood that wouldn't help anyway...

According to a thread on Reddit the Xbox app requires Windows 1909 and higher. For LTSC that means you'll need the 2021 or 2024 version. It's no guarantee though; some of the dependancies might still be missing. Since you've done a lot of research already you probably know that already but just in case: Xbox on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC : r/Windows10LTSC Yes, LTSC IOT 2021, version 19044, same as the guy from that Reddit link you provided... Which is why it's so weird it's not working for me. I also did try to install that Xbox app from that link (without the Store), and get the same error "check your connection". Lots of people seem to be able to get Store, Xbox app and MSFS running on the exact same LTSC version I have, and I can't figure out why mine won't work, especially when it's a fresh install (with all Windows Updates installed of course).
December 19, 20241 yr Author Okay, so for testing purposes, I re-installed Windows 10 LTSC 2021 on a new partition for testing, let Windows Updates complete, and then first thing installed Store - and I still get "check your connection" error 😞 I then deleted it, and tried Windows 11 LTSC 2024... And surprise surprise - the exact same error. So it seems that it is not related to my original installation, it is fine, this is something else... Can anyone offer any advice?

Things I can think of: 1. User account: Are you signing in with a Microsoft account that is blocked or something? Or does this happen even before you sign in? 2. Network - something on your network is blocking the connection to the Store? Easy to test - try a standard Windows 11/10 (non-LTSC) install, and see if that works. If it's your network, then the Store should show the same error. If you confirm that it's the network (Pihole? Firewall on your router? something like a DNS adblocker?) then you can fix it. 3. Install Wireshark and examine the outgoing calls when you run the store. Then you can try the URLs with something like curl to see if you're getting blocked somewhere. This naturally requires some advanced knowledge of networking, no idea how comfortable you are with this. 4. You could also try a new internet connection - try going through your phone instead of your wifi. Maybe it's your ISP? The store has always worked fine for me after doing a simple "wsreset -i" in both 10 LTSC and 11 LTSC. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
June 27, 2025Jun 27 I just did a Windows 10 IOT LTSC install for a relative on their computer yesterday and I can confirm it’s amazing. First thing I installed was Windows Store and Xbox stuff and all is working great! Someone is giving me a couple-year-old gaming PC that I’m going to do a Windows 10 or 11 LTSC install on myself. Once you add in retro bar and open shell, it becomes the windows I actually like using. The teksyndicate videos on YT are wonderful resources if anyone needs them. Not knocking Win11 LTSC, I'm mainly curious....why should I pay $427 for a license of LTSC when I can get a license of Pro for $200? I can de-bloat pretty well myself. Am I paying the extra $127 from someone else to de-bloat, or is there some other advantage to LTSC that goes BEYOND mere debloating?
