December 27, 20241 yr Hello; I realize there are many opinions out there about what is "best" for FS2024. I did not ever get into FS2020, so there is a lot of catchup to do. I have looked at a lot of video reviews and the like, and think this will be a pretty solid setup. I am going to be flying airliners (B737 primarily). Appreciate any thoughts on this rig: Ryzen 7 9800X3D RTX 4080 Super 64 Gig DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz 2 TB SSD Drive Alienware 34" widescreen monitor Thanks for reading.
December 27, 20241 yr That is exactly my setup except for the monitor. Lately it’s been fantastic. Had several weeks worth of blurry textures but not recently. I think my issues were server related. Was worried about the 16 gb of vram. So far 2024 has used up to 15gb, but no issues. Loving my new pc so far.
December 27, 20241 yr If I were buying right now I'd probably hold off till the 5090 cards come out. But maybe a 4070ti to tide you over for now? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 27, 20241 yr Sounds like a: MSI Aegis ZS2 Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 9 7900X - GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER If so, I was also considering it as an upgrade….

I need to check in my Internet connection speed too. My last speed test shows mid 70s for downloads
December 27, 20241 yr 4090 price drop sounds better than what the 50 series will cost. I will say that what a 120hz 65" OLED tv produces is stunning. i7-13700KF @ 5.3GHz 32.0GB DDR5 @ 5600 RTX 3080 65" LG OLED @ 4k

December 27, 20241 yr Ryan makes a good point. May be best to wait till the 5000 gpu’s are released. My previous pc died in late October so I pulled the trigger early. My 4080 super may very well get replaced by a 5090 in the next few months! We’ll see.

So true, there always seems to be something right around the corner. Just wondering about will the hype match the price and will there be delays and all the other stuff that comes with new products.

I think you'd be just fine a 4080 or ti if you don't plan on VR or a super high res monitor. I've got a 4080 and it's been excellent. It just doesn't excel in VR. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 27, 20241 yr I think the OP's planned system is very good. And I don't see a price drop in series 4000 when the 5000 come out. I did not see 3000 price drop when 4000 came out. Alienware brand is too expensive and just average quality, from what I hear. For great quality I would choose Ironside computer, customized build, not prebuilt. Their tech help is free lifetime. Build quality is excellent and professional (they are not high volume and take their time in assembly and do it right and very neat cabling and so forth). https://ironsidecomputers.com/product/amd-gold/#components 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

There is always the build v buy decision. I've built several in the past but it is just easier to get someone else to do it albeit there is a cost.
