If that's a third party addition, no.

Check the usercfg.opt properties, if the file is set to 'Read Only' then untick that and see if that helps.

Can tell me where I find that parameter, please?

Right click your usercfg.opt file, if you don't know where that is do search for it on your PC.

Open the usercfg.opt file with notepad and scroll down to VolumetricClouds.

Quality for me is 3 which is ultra.

But don't complain if your performance tanks afterwards. 😉

Not quite, I have that off and I sit between 30-45. Settings between med-high and ultra.

The key is recognising the 3080 or the hardware you bought 4 years ago  isn’t going to cut all ultra using TAA. Miracles do happen but not in flightsim. We all accepted that since fs9.

I've tried to increase this setting from the default but every time I exit the sim, it reverts back to the 'medium" default setting.

Is this a known bug?

Is the NVidia app controling your MSFS settings? Nvidia will override your settings in MSFS if you gave it permission to do so.

THIS!  Just happened to me. It took two reset of settings / reboots to realize “something” was changing things.  I had just installed Nvidia drivers and had gone ahead and accepted the upgrade to “Experience“.  If you have NVE installed make sure your scan for and optimize eligible games setting is OFF.  Mine was on and that was causing the grief.  I turned it off and “hid” MSFS 2020 for good measure LoL.  Anywany another vector to disrupt your flight skimming bliss!

FWIW. YMMV  TANSTAAFL
