VOX ATC first time

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

Staying with the P3D (v45), I have been carrying around the idea of buying a VOX ATC for some time now. I'm currently using PRO - ATC, but not SR since the developer gave up on downloading weather data from AS and was unresponsive to requests to bring this option back, and it's now basically a dead product. I also tried PF3, and FSHUD in the early days of development - here I still managed to use the Flight1 refund option because I wasn't happy with that program; mainly the low number of aircraft on the airfield and not operating on acceleration (unfortunately that's the only way I can do flights in my spare time).
I am considering VOX ATC, which I have never used before.  It's also tempting to use the program to manage AI traffic - that's why I tried with FSHUD.
Here, however, from what I have read it is a program for voice communication, I prefer the so-called button, however, and would have questions:

1. is it possible to use VOX ATC completely without voice communication - I know there is an FO option, but is it possible to completely do ‘button controls’ without using voice communication e.g. first contact . Yes I only fly liners and always the communication is managed by FO and I don't want to be involved in this

2. does VOX ATC managing AI limit the number of aircraft (this is what FSHUD did) and airports are basically empty e.g. using FSHUD at EPWA I had 5 aircraft where without about 30-40, does VOX ATC also do this or does it use what I have installed - there is a lot of it

3. is there any point in using PRO - ATC to switch to VOX ATC; leaving aside that PRO - ATC does not manage AI traffic

What are your impressions if you use this program?

Thank you in advance for any answers and suggestions

I will just put it here to avoid broadcasting misleading information.

As you can see, this is the latest version build of FSHud 2 at default EPWA with 38 parked aircraft that will depart according to schedule, and 10 currently active aircraft.
Best wishes to VOX ATC developers with their product! These are honest words because there are many users in the market, and every ATC add-on has its advantages.
As for @Grzegorz, just save your time and stay away from him (as we do), or be prepared for refund requests or dehumanizing criticism like "It limits the traffic."

Thank you!

For mine, it is second to none other for P3D/FSX use (except P3D6). It has not a cluttered UI, is intuitive as well as simple to index & start.

At https://voxatc.com/, you can find manuals/demos etc to review.

Please note, VATC only uses traffic.bgl's for generating & control of traffic with comms to all ...... & yes, one should have a comprehensive set of those to better understand VATC's (manual or auto) traffic limiters. It also requires "many" 64bit Sapi5 TTS voices to support the comms.

So be organised with the above before you start the demo , have the latest Navigraph VATC airac loaded.

& yes, it can be "key operated" for both IFR & VFR.

Support is friendly & available direct or from users at https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/229-the-voxatc-support-forum/

Dude from FSHud...This is unnecessary ....perhaps his comment, which by the way is called constructive criticism, is useful to folks like me still considering my options as well....you slam him for no reason....

I'm not sure what you mean ....... VATC using TTS for all comms pronounces all callsigns / fixes / procedures (ie  not phonetics like PATC & FsHud). It also has a pronunciation editor to further define how a name should sound.

& to add, VATC can be a tad fastidious about the parking / taxiing data of airport scenery ...... so good to have your afcads match the airac/charts you use & if you want preferred NAP's with downwind ops.

for now, cheers

Pilot2ATC V3, FSHud 2.0 & MCE are the best as far as I am concerned.
They each have similar aims but complete those aims quite differently.

And the bells and whistles are magnificent on each one.

Unfortunately, in the sim market only few publishers understand what a user's personal opinion is. I simply do not respond to such comments, here I would have to present the same level, and this is something I always want to avoid.

indeed the question of VATC vs PATC is pointless.
As for AFCAD, for the most part I have it fairly up to date, made possible by the AIG people publishing an update for many scenery. Minor changes, I can do on my own as well and I think here there will be no problem with VATC requirements.
Overall, thanks to your information, I am more and more inclined to try this program. The AI traffic management is very tempting for me.

Thank you very much for all the information

Didn't know about this feature for VoxATC. I went with FSHud over a year ago because I was tired with the inability of PF3 to recognize new callsigns. Went back because of the performance hit in v1, but now that they are in v2, I can't fly without FShud.

There are a few more I could mention ... but briefly note that in such a list VATC can use customised data for comm frequencies, for procedures, for taxi routes etc.

Admittedly, the developer should update the user guide to include those many features now included since the guide was written,

for now, cheers
