Hi everyone, I just came back from msfs and I wish I never left. I have also discovered that I forgot everything in P3D V4 and I need some help. I can figure out most things but there is an addon that I am having trouble with. I would like to know how to install and setup Super Traffic Board. I was my favorite addon and pretty much the reason I came back to P3D. They don't seem to have a website or forum anymore so finding help is not easy. This is why I posted on this forum because you guys have always helped out in the past and I need you again. Thank you

@bosflo, what Ai package are you using? I’d highly recommend AIG because AiCompanion (free) works like STB but gives so much more.

This type of software relies on SimConnect so make sure you’ve installed the three versions required.

yes, I am using AIG but I never heard of ai companion. How is it different from Super Traffic Board? I like to follow a plane from gate to gate and not do so much actually flying just spotting. 

@bosflo, it shows you all the Ai at your airport and their status. Once airborne it shows all Ai in your 80nm bubble. Likewise when landing.

You can interrogate it to show movements out of any airport and even display A380 flights for every airport in the world or just one airport or airline.

It’s free and simple to use.

thanks for your suggestion but it wasn't for me. I really love super traffic board and want to use that but I am having so much trouble with it. This takes me right back in the day  when I used to pull my hair out using P3D and addons. It seems I am pulling my hair out again but this time there is no more STB forums, website, or videos for help so I am relying on the experts to help me. My biggest problem is using STB with AIG OCI and I can't get the AI in P3D to show up. I can install packages fine but when I load up STB there is no data to click on. If I can get that to work together then everything will be fine but for now it's hours of frustration. So I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks

So there no Ai visible? Can you give an example? For example, British Airways at Heathrow should definitely show them. Check your Ai slider in P3D is set to 100%.

Given it’s still being sold by JustFlight it should work. Check your Visual Studio files are up to date. Here’s the requirement for v5.

Runtime for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 is required on the client.

Do you use *.bgl traffic or AIG traffic controller traffic *.aifp? The latter needs the trafic controller program started and running.

Aha, so that's the rub. I didn't know that traffic controller was needed because before it was just an extra addon that you could use or not. I will use ai companion as well but I always loved STB for my needs. Can you choose either bgl or aifp and which is better? I just went with what the traffic manager defaults where, but I am concerned about where to put the traffic files on my computer. I know in the past it was very very important to put them in the right place. Thanks guys

@bosflo, BGL plans fly a GCR to their destination. AIGFP ones stick to jet routes which some prefer. There’s no right or wrong choice.

The advantage of BGL ones is the AIFP editor. There’s no equivalent for AIGFP ones. This allows you to switch “no paint” Ai to a similar aircraft that does have a livery. Otherwise it just shows as white.

With BGLs you can control the number of Ai in the sim if performance is critical. AIGFP ones are injected and if deleted will just be re-injected.

Personally I use BGL and only accept AIGFP when there’s no alternative and I want the airline.

It’s important to install the AIG parent folder outside your P3D structure. I installed to C:\AIG.

indeed, sound advice ...... though most if not all AIG traffic flightplans are available for traffic.bgl's either from forum or AIGM manual download for subsequent AIFP install or OCI if your "lazy". Can't say I have seen AIGFP's only for P3D.

There are similar manual downloads from aitraffic.ch to also install

& besides, some of routing in AIGFP's is disappointingly "amateur" to say the least ...... the wrong direction/altitudes on one way airways, inbounds on outbound procedures etc.

You can use a mix as @Ray Proudfoot suggested or one side or the other. I used aifp from AIG only for a long time. Next to this I have lots of self made bgl traffic or MAIW traffic for instance in bgl form. The AIG traffic controller crashed a lot so I removed all aifp and selected bgl since a few months. It took some time to let install all traffic again but it works more reliable now. I did not feel or see the advantages of AIFP flight plans during flying, only the disadvantages of missing traffic. The controller was still running but when I selected the map, it showed no traffic where traffic should have been. A new start of the traffic controller fixed that but I don't want to re-start this program all the time. I deny all aifp flightplans when asked. It's a pity to not have certain traffic even with one file I need that controller again. I tried it long enough. Maybe it works with fewer files, who knows but my experience over two years and countless updates is negative.

Installation of the traffic files: Make sure you have them on a fast drive like the sim itself. I have mine on F:\Flightsim Addons\AIGAIM - OCI e.g. That's all you need to consider. Loading of all the simobjects needs some time and that can slow down the sim.

How do you select to use bgl instead of the default for the installer. Things change pretty quick because it used to only be bgl files and now there is this new thing. I did not see a bgl choice and now I have downloaded all the packages into P3D. I have noticed STB not playing well with the traffic controller and that is not a good thing. If I need to install all the packages again then so be it because I want them to work with STB and I have a pretty fast computer 😉

You need to select use BGL at the start of install on setup.

so that means that I need to delete my whole aig manager and then start fresh. How can I do that without messing around with files and folders. what happens to all the data that could be leftover like traffic and model files? i just want to do this right have a clean reinstall and not hqve any conflicts or problems. I am using P3D V4 if that helps. thanks
