January 14, 20251 yr So for a while I was very happy with 2024. I was mostly flying Fenix A319, A320 and A321. They work perfectly for me in 2024 and I have my MCDU on a touch screen as well as a Pad with the EFT on the side. Using my 4 screen setup. With Winwing FCU and FCIS. GFX Pro works perfectly as well. I was also flying the B36 and the M20 as well as a few other 2020 GA planes no problems at all. For helicopter I flew mostly the R66, I got it set up and running great. I did have a few issues with bindings not sticking etc. But mostly everything ran great. Then 2 days ago I decided to install a bunch of helis from 2020, the HYPE H145, a couple payware B206's and the Friends 500. When I did all hell broke loose. I could not get any of the bindings working. And even though FlyInside and Hype claim 2024 compatibility, for me at least they are not even close. The bindings kept disappearing and changing, trim settings did not work and yes a couple CTD's and lots of freezes that took a while but then came back. My side monitors were sometimes upside down and then snapped back upright. A bunch of other stuff happened as well. So I spent 2 days just trying to get things mostly helis to work. Then today I gave up. Cleaned all the extra stuff (what I added in the last days) to of my Community Folder. And guess what now things are back working perfectly again. I even started flying the Cabri and made a lot of custom bindings for it just to make sure things would stick and they did. So for me the moral of this period of frustration is, just stick with what works. Keep it simple and things work great. Just because a developer says a product is 2024 compatible does not mean it will work. I just wanted to share this experience and see if others have come to similar conclusion. For me I only use 2024 now, and only try one new thing at a time. I am sure with upcoming updates things will all work eventually. If I want to play with my old helis etc, I will go back to 2020. But for me at least 2020 looks so bad compared to 2024 that I will live with the limited products that work to get the fantastic scenery and clouds. January 14, 20251 yr Precisely how I've approached it too.. the 2024 native birds like Fenix and ini A300 are working quite well and fills my airliner needs, along with the default A330 etc. There's so much to try and enjoy in the default fleet, especially the ones of considerable fidelity, that I don't really miss my other aircraft not compatible/native to 2024 yet. Even though I still have 2020 installed, I find I use it less and less as it really is hard to go back once you've experienced 2024 given how it both flies *and* looks as good as it does. Few questions if you don't mind I was thinking of getting GSX Pro Can that be used (on Fenix of course 🙂) at different stages or ideally starting dark is the only ideal way to use that program ? just thinking out loud if plane is running at the gate - what features can be used in that state could I still load passengers if engines are running ? Basically wondering if not in proper order can you initiate functions or it has to be in proper order - wondering how forgiving it is has been a long time since my last GSX purchase Also do they use there own jetways ? or use default - you ever see glass jetways seeing passengers walking thru jetway - I don't want to have to go thru all that setup your GSX scenario stuff yourself - no time for all that - I'm aware of FLightsim.to profiles I have KBOS Flytampa - how would GSX interact with another payware besides a FSDreamteam airport ? Would be so cool to see the passengers walking thru glass jetway - I know its not perfect as they are walking in air but that's fine Thanks a lot, appreciate it Edited January 14, 20251 yr by Richard Sennett Rich Sennett

It runs in the background while you prepare the plane and program the flight, takes about the right amount of time, you can speed up the boarding in a few ways, but it is sort of fun to watch. Using different screens for tablet and MCDU make this nice, you can watch external or out the windows as plane is fueled catered and has cargo loaded as well as the passengers that mostly look pretty real, but sometimes walk through each other of moonwalk floating. The pushback is really cool as is the follow me truck after landing, leading you to the right gate night or day. It is just another cool bit of immersion, to me it feels right, even though sometimes it is a bit comical. I have the KBOS FlyTampa as well and it works perfectly there as well as all other airports I have used even small one like KACK the stairs and buses delivering passengers are really cool. I have used it at dozens of payware airports and lots of native 2024 and 2020 ones with no problems at all. It did take me a while to figure out exactly how to use it, the manual is long and there are lots of vids on the subject. I highly reccomend it if you fly airliners from cold and dark, if you like to start on the runway and just go I would not bother with it. Currently flying between Columbus Ohio and Louisville Ky along the I-71 corridor. This is where I got my PP ticket and almost all of my training originated out of KCMH in the Winter. Flying right now over the amazingly well laid out patchy snow brings back some powerful and very pleasant memories of those days in my life some 45 or so years ago. The landscapes this sim provides is like no other. If you own it fly it and enjoy it. If you don’t own it, wait 6 months or so. It will only get better. -B

"Then 2 days ago I decided to install a bunch of helis from 2020" Ha ha ha - I know EXACTLY how you feel! 👍 I had better luck than you with the CowanSim helos, but my computer setup isn't nearly as sophisticated as yours. 🙂 Sounds like you're doing things the right way, and once you pushed past the limits, you adjusted back and things are working again. A very reasonable man! I have a handful of v24 Compatible 3PD add-ons that are stuck in the unavailable v24 Marketplace, which is a bit frustrating, along with the PMDG 737, et al. But my take so far is that what's already there & proven to work is more than enough to keep me busy, and the sim's upgraded world features are more than enough to keep me happy. So, all in all, tho I've got a slew of add-ons that are presently unusable in v24, I'm satisfied with the things that are. Perhaps not obvious, but I haven't even tried the careers & missions. Im good with free flights until that stuff is all straightened out. And if I really get desperate for Missions & Campaigns, I've got plenty available in DCS World 😎
