AIG and MSFS 2024, and downloading problems

Featured Replies

I'm using the new beta of AIG's model installer to try and get landing gears to show on MSFS 2024.

The uploader however is one of the worst programs I've ever used.  It freezes across different computers, different houses, different continents, different operating systems, and for different sims.  Does it work for anyone?  Every time I click on "Quick Install" it gets about five airlines in and then just freezes.

I don't like using FSLTL because then I have to run another program in the background, the injector (I'm using FSHud).  I also like that AIG flight plans mean that the sim time shows the corresponding traffic, not the local time in real life.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong with this program?  It's slow progress to get proper models in MSFS 2024 that's for sure!

Usually for AIG, a supposedly frozen tool is not really frozen but ultra-slowly doing its thing. Let it run for some time, it takes easily up to several minutes for certain airlines to fully download everything and finish.

I have a full (everything) install for MSFS2020 and another one for MSFS2024 and both work more or less flawlessly... Just a pain to maintain two installations, but I can still not take the plunge to uninstall MSFS2020...

Greetings, Chris

Always frozen for me every time I use it, regardless of version.  I did read on here it doesn't freeze if used through a VPN, but I haven't tried that.

It never freezes. It just slows down. Sometimes for several minutes, depending on the download.

Downloading all flightplans is not a good idea. It can take easily over 6 hours.

No it does not. A "freeze" in AIG can easily take up 15-20 Minutes depending on what it is doing. It does recover however.

Another possibility is that it's opening another window, maybe hidden beneath some other window, stating that it's unable to do a particular download and that it needs you to download it in your own browser. You can avoid that by unselecting 'Manual Downloads' in 'Settings->AIGAIM - OCI', which is advisable when doing the initial bulk download of a large number of airlines. You can always go back later and redo the download with the option selected to pick up any that were missed.

I've got down to Scandinavian, just on the Euro flight plans, and it's taken me all morning of stopping, quitting and reloading (with fiber internet)

Such a rubbish way to get models compared to FSLTL.  Probably going to quit and switch.

I've left things overnight where it's been stuck on the same airline.  So i call that a freeze.

Only get those you really need and not all of them. For example I never fly in asia. Timezone is just two inconvenient for me. So what do I need Russian or Indonisian airlines for that don't fly international?

Just run it through Add Ons Linker to auto start and auto close on sim exit and you never have to worry about the thing.

I am not referring to long pauses, slow download or even hidden windows that I have missed. I am referring to a freeze, where the program does not recover. It happens.
