A320 Fenix - Delay when using brakes (ground)

Featured Replies

Hello,

When I use the brakes on the ground I have a latency before the aircraft reacts which makes guiding and stopping by Marshaller difficult.

Is this a problem with the aircraft or did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

NB: I asked the question on the discord but no answer.

I would check for null zones or sensitivity in the brakes. I don't experience that issue.

Are you using an 'analog' (pedals) controller for braking or have you assigned a button on a joystick (digital)?

Hello,
Thank you for your help. I am using a Thrumaster 1600 and TWCS THROTTLE combo. I have assigned the brakes to a rocker button (the button returns to neutral when I release it). On this button I cannot adjust the sensitivity.
I noticed that when I press this button the foot pedals (rudder pedals) of the 320 Fenix gradually sink but the braking only occurs when the rudders of the 320 are at the end of their travel.

Maybe get a set of rudder pedals and then you can fly the Fenix like an airplane.

I'm confused. Are the rudder pedals a recent purchase? You mentioned in an earlier reply that you had assigned the brakes to a button.

If it's still a button press then you have no control over sensitivity since it's basically an ON-OFF switch. Max braking or no braking. In that case you have to "pump" (press and release multiple times) to get a kind of gradual braking action. Each press will apply max braking but that will reset to zero action when releasing the button thereby incrementally slowing the aircraft.

If you are using pedals you should be able to adjust sensitivity both in the pedal software as well as through the Fenix. I do not have the Fenix so I'm not sure about those adjustments but I'd be surprised to hear that they don't have them.

Looks like no toe brakes on those pedals.

@Constvoid  You are right

@speedyTC The foot pedals are only rudder pedals not brakes When I bought them I didn't know that i needed pedals for the rudder pedal and also for the right/left brakes that's why I assigned the brakes to a push button on the TWCS Throttle.

I have the same pedals. Superb but no brakes so I assigned them to the paddles on my STECS throttle. A bit jerky but the passengers have yet to complain.

Thanks to all,
With this discussion and especially the explanations of @speedytc  😍, I understood my problem: the button "thoughtful" then "stop" the plane like the parking brake. So I assigned the left brake axis and the right brake axis to a caster and I set the sensitivity to 30.
Now, I can make the A320 Fenix move between 2 and 4 Kts without problem.
Thanks again for your help.
