I was trying to replicate my install of 2020 but I gave up on that and decided to start from scratch with 2024. I fly 2020 every day, multiple flights with my favorite airliners. I don't have to cross my fingers, burn incense, or pray to the FS Gods, it just works. 😉

That being said my first impressions of lighting and cloud depiction was very unimpressive, even by 2020 standards, which surprised me. In fact w/ re to cloud depiction I had got rid of any hint of so-called 'voxel grid' on cloud edges in 2020 by setting PrimaryScaling to 150 using TAA, and very fortunately since changing to DLSS4 + DLAA that has remained a non-issue. In one 2024 flight this one into KSHR in overcast weather I got a new and different but heinous grid throughout the entire cloud layer more or less, just nasty. It looked like very faint 1/2" hardware cloth and I've never seen anything like it in 2020. But since then I've seen it again but limited to cloud edges and fortunately not too much. The lighting changes I saw were a downgrade at some level. Hopefully all of this is growing pains or other. But at this point in time 2024 feels a little more like a novelty compared to how complete, stable and mature 2020 is.
